Dylan (2008)

Dylan is a richly drawn, semi-surreal biography of legendary poet and notorious hell-raiser Dylan Thomas (Kevin Mckidd) spanning his birth in Wales to his death aged 39, in New York. We see Dylan's early years and inspirations and join his famous lecture tours of America taking in Arthur Miller's appreciation and Charlie Chaplin's chagrin along the way. Observing his complex, tragic and often comical relationships with among others, fiery Irish wife Caitlin (Kelly Reilly) and wealthy socialite mistress Elizabeth Reitell (Famke Janssen), we are also party to the creation of some of his most famous works. Fascinating and inspired, Dylan will appeal to the many fans of Thomas's 'dark and sullen art' as well all those new to the life of one of literature's greatest and most loved anti-heroes.
