Faris, Aykroyd, and Timberlake in ‘Yogi Bear’

6 November 2009 12:55 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, and Justin Timberlake are in negotiations for Warner Bros’ live-action/CGI hybrid feature Yogi Bear.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Faris will play Rachel, a nature documentary filmmaker shooting Yogi and Boo-Boo for her next project.  Though her last movie was voice work for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Faris’ character will be a live-action performance.

Aykroyd will lend the voice of Yogi Bear, the picnic basket-stealing menace to Jellystone Park.  Timberlake will provide the vocals for Boo-Boo, his bow-tied sidekick.  Both bears are expected to remain pantless.  No word on which lucky actor gets to play the Park Ranger.  Is Jason Lee available for a paycheck?

WB is planning to shoot it in New Zealand next month with director Eric Bravig (Journey to the Center of the Earth).  I bet you can’t wait to hear the range Timberlake exhibits in this one.  Shrek the Third »

‘Yogi Bear’ Adds Aykroyd, Faris & Timberlake

6 November 2009 10:12 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Ever since a live-action, 3D Yogi Bear movie was announced back in February this year, there hasn’t really been any movement on the news front regarding it. However, fast forward to now and we may have our main cast in the form of Dan Aykroyd, Anna Faris and Justin Timberlake.

Aykroyd is in negotiations to voice the titular character in Yogi Bear, with Faris set to play a nature documentarian who follows the antics of Yogi in the fictional Jellystone Park. Timberlake is also in talks to join the project, possibly playing Yogi’s sidekick, Boo-Boo. The film is being directed by Eric Brevig (Journey To The Center of the Earth), and produced by Donald De Line and Karen Rosenfelt as a live-action/CGI hybrid in the vein of Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield (aim high, why don’t you?).

Fear this: Dan Aykroyd as Yogi Bear

6 November 2009 8:04 AM, PST | AOL - TVSquad | See recent AOL - TVSquad news »

I could make another joke about how Hollywood is out of ideas, but why bother? However, as further proof of the concept, a live-action/CGI Yogi Bear movie is in the works based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon from way back when. Dan Aykroyd will be lending his voice for Yogi and Justin Timberlake will be the voice of Boo Boo. Did anyone else just feel a cold shiver down their spine?

Anna Faris will also be in the movie as a documentary filmmaker. I like Anna Faris even when she's in crap movies, but I don't think her presence is going to make me like this one.

I'm sorry to say that this movie will likely do well and the kids will eat up. Look at Hollywood's history of similar movies (most of which have actually spawned sequels): The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, »

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd set for 'Yogi Bear'

6 November 2009 12:51 AM, PST | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are the first to join the cast of Eric Brevig's upcoming "Yogi Bear" film for Warner Bros., which is prepping the project for a December shoot.

"Bear" will be a mix of CGI and live-action, much in the same way as the recent "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Garfield," two films that absolutely sucked (and looked terrible). It will be shot in 3D. »

Faris meets Yogi Bear

5 November 2009 2:19 PM, PST | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

Anna Faris might not have another Scary Movie in her future, but it looks like there's another franchise following her fine form. Faris will be the primary human in Warner Bros.' live-action/CG-animated Yogi Bear movie (a la Scooby Doo, Alvin And The Chipmunks, etc., etc.). She'll play a nature documentarian who pays a visit to Jellystone Park, only to encounter a mischievous talking bear with a fondness for pic-a-nic baskets and neckwear. The studio wants Dan Aykroyd to lend his voice to... »

Shawn Levy and the Berenstain Bears

3 November 2009 7:31 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Walden Media has picked up the rights to the Berenstain Bears with Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, The Pink Panther) as a producer.  No word on whether Levy will direct, though his next project is likely Real Steel with Hugh Jackman.

According to THR, the plan is to make a live-action movie that also mixes in CGI.  That seems to be the trend these days thanks to Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Scooby Doo.  Now we’re getting the Berenstain Bears and Marmaduke.

There are over 250 Berenstain Bear books in the series originating in 1962 with Stan and Jan Berenstain.  The morality stories help young readers deal with life situations like the birds and the bees (pictured right), bullies, and eating too much junk food.  There hasn’t been a bear family this boring since Goldilocks’ adventures in small, medium, and large sized bowls, chairs, and beds.

Owen Wilson is in Marmaduke's doghouse

3 November 2009 8:43 AM, PST | Corona's Coming Attractions | See recent Corona's Coming Attractions news »

Because starring in just one movie about a giant dog wasn't enough for Owen Wilson, the actor has just signed on the dotted line to provide the voice for Marmaduke in 20th Century Fox's live-action/CG movie. I don't berate Wilson for taking a paycheck, and he's got the right kind of personality to make the pooch's pipes interesting, it's Fox that I have disdain for. Really, Fox? It wasn't enough to inflict pain upon us with two Garfield movies? Your investors weren't satisfied with all that money made by the talking rats in the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie? Why do you guys have to be the talking animal movie studio?

Sigh.

The logline for Marmaduke has the Winslow family pack up and move from Kansas to California. Their dog Marmaduke is big, produces a lot of dog slobber and creates chaos at every opportunity. Family friendly comedic hijinks ensue! »

Trailer Park: Broken Toys, Serious Embraces

Toy Story 3

Full length trailer for the Disney/Pixar sequel in which Andy goes off to college leaving Woody, Buzz and the gang to be donated to a daycare center. Looks like a worthy successor to the franchise. The toys start getting real again on June 18.

Serious Moonlight

In sort of a romantic comedy take on Misery, Meg Ryan plays a woman who duct tapes her cheating husband (Timothy Hutton) to the toilet and refuses to release him until he loves her again. Could be a cute idea but it's got a "wait for the DVD" feel. Watch for this one on December 4.

Dear John

Channing Tatum plays a soldier home on leave who falls in love with a college student (Amanda Seyfried) and carries on a long correspondence (hence the title) once he returns to duty. This is out on February 5.

Justin Long Loses A Limb For 'The Conspirator'

14 October 2009 2:30 PM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

He'll always be best known for representing a Mac in Apple commercials, but Justin Long continues to branch out with his acting career. After a decade of playing fairly light roles in comedies and horror films, not to mention a prominent breakout part in "Live Free or Die Hard," he will be getting his first serious, dramatic supporting role in Robert Redford's Lincoln assassination movie, "The Conspirator," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Long joins James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn for the historical drama about Mary Surratt (Wright Penn), the sole woman allegedly involved in the plot to kill the president. McAvoy plays a disfigured Civil War hero who comes to her defense, while Long will play his best friend and fellow soldier who also assists as McAvoy's conscience.

The biggest challenge will be that Long's character has lost a limb in the war (it's not revealed if it's »

Alvin & The Chipmunks 2 Theatrical Trailer

7 October 2009 12:29 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

The problem with writing a generic movie website is that we have to cover movies that wouldn’t necessarily be top of our list to watch. That said, I just watched the new theatrical trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel and it actually made me laugh… so I thought I’d post it and give you all the chance to give it a go.

Alvin and the Chimpmunks isn’t a movie that I would rush out to see at my local cinema….. but it seems that I am one of the few as the first movie, released back in 2007 made a whopping $300 million worldwide. It’s no surprise then that a sequel or in this case, the ‘Squeakquel’ has been created. You’ll be able to see ‘Alvin and The Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel’ on Boxing Day in the UK and I’ve embedded the trailer »

It is truly a shocking turn of events when the Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Sqeakquel trailer debuts, and it's not even the worst thing I've seen today. New 'Alvin and the Chipmunks 2' Trailer Hears Some Singing

A brand new trailer of "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" has come out for viewing pleasure. This less-than-two-minute promo video is made available by MSN. If compared to the previous videos, it offers fresh footage of the harmony singing brothers at school and a sneak peek at what happens to their caretaker David Seville.

Beside teasing on what to expect from the sequel to the 2007's "Alvin and the Chipmunks", the trailer also presents a couple of songs sung by the Chipmunks as well as their female counterparts, the Chipettes. First to be heard is the Chipmunks singing Flo Rida's single "Right Round", and near the end of the trailer, the Chipettes perform Beyonce Knowles' "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)".

This holiday season at the movies is ruined, as Betty Thomas' "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" is set to tear apart the big screen when it opens Dec. 25, 2009. Here's a crappy new trailer for the sequel.
