I thought that the acting was great (although Ben Kingsley's southern accent was a bit over the top), there were some great ideas and scenes, but the overall plot fell apart.
I am a liberal, I love John Cusack, and I was very excited for the movie, but:
SEMI-SPOILER ALERT
Around 1/2 - 2/3 of the way through the plot started getting in the way of the message of the film. I recognize that a film needs to wrap things up, but I felt that that the ending wound up taking what was shaping up as an interesting, relatively unpredictable indie film into the most hackneyed hollywood ending I've seen. I realize that in some ways it was ironic, but I felt it just didn't work.
Did anyone else feel the same on seeing it?
