Trivia:
The car used by Sasha is a Maserati Quattroporte. moreGoofs:
Revealing mistakes: While Beth is suspended upside down her feet are clearly being held by thick cuffs designed for suspending a person in this way, however when a close up of her feet is shown she is supposed to be bound by some thin rough looking rope. This obviously would not have been possible to film with the actress actually hanging by such a thin rope as the weight of the human body hung by the ankles in this way would have caused injury to the actress. moreSoundtrack:

This movie had gotten a lot of harsh reviews, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents. I liked the first one, thought it was maybe a little overrated but I still enjoyed it. I liked this more though, mainly because of the story and the way it went more into how Elite Hunting actually worked. People have said this made the film less scary than the original, I can't comment because I didn't find the original scary. Cool ,very entertaining and at one point very wince making, but not scary. I don't find the concept realistic and I find torture scenes more obnoxious than frightening. Plus, when I want that kind of in your face nastiness, I prefer proper sickies, that aren't made with an obvious eye on the box office returns. So, the addition of more detail in Hostel 2 made it more interesting for me. Also, I preferred the protagonists. I'll always have more sympathy for pretty art school girls than loudmouth jocks. Similarly, fleshing out the bad folks made me more interested in what they were doing. These factors made the connective tissue between the bloodletting more watchable. It also made me think Eli Roth's getting better as a film maker. Less like a talented kid going crazy in a blood filled candy store, and more like someone turning into an all round excellent horror purveyor. As far as the gore was concerned, I had a blast. Apart from one inexplicable off screen kill (I got no problems with restraint but off screen kills annoy me), I loved the bloodshed. I thought the geeky girls demise was the best gore sequence Roth's yet come up with, indeed one of the best I've seen in any gore film over the last month or so and the fact that there was slightly less gruelling intensity in general meant that for me the entertainment factor went up. I'd feared Hostel 2 was going to be end up overtly grim and irritating in an attempt to outdo the first one but I liked the change in tack. Also, genius appearance from Ruggero Deodato. My complaints are that, like the first one, it still had the odd silly moment, dumb character decisions, and slightly misjudged comedy. Still, I had great fun and I definitely recommend it. Especially if you read the reviews that hate it before watching. I did, they lowered my expectations and I ended up liking it even more. Over and out.
