Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay is taken from a screenplay by co-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. It is a sequel to Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004).

It's based on a stereotype that black people like grape soda, just like fried chicken and watermelon.

There is a short clip at the very end of the movie revealing that Neil Patrick Harris survived being shot at the brothel.
