Trivia:
Christine's white loafers are actually Miranda July's own shoes. They're visible in a photo in the soundtrack CD. moreGoofs:
Continuity: After Michael rolls down his window and tells the father and daughter in the car in the next lane that he and Christine will pull up in front of the car with the goldfish on the trunk to keep them driving steadily, the shot returns to inside Christine's car and Michael's window is rolled up. moreQuotes:
Michael: Ellen broke up with me.Christine Jesperson: What? Why?
Michael: She thinks she's gonna die this week.
Christine Jesperson: No. Out of everyone at Saint Tod, she is the least likely person to die.
Michael: Well, she's usually right. She's been right about everyone else. I lived a whole life with a woman I didn't even really like. We traveled all over the world together. And Ellen and I never even left the grounds.
Christine Jesperson: Well, actually I took you to the IMAX that one time.
Michael: Yeah, but I wanted to take her to the Mayan ruins in Guatemala. She really wanted to see those.
Christine Jesperson: Yeah, that just seems weird that she wouldn't want to be with you- you know, if - her time was coming.
Michael: I've long since stopped trying to make people - do things they don't want to do.
Christine Jesperson: But she's the love of your life. You're just gonna let her go?

I just saw this film in Cannes, and Miranda July just won the Camera D'Or for best first feature. I think the jurors were right on for giving this film an award. It's a simple film that creates identifiable and likable characters that are all loosely connected. I suppose there is one central story line, but the film's strength lies in the individual scenes and interactions between these characters. July successfully depicts the innocence of childhood, the sexual curiosity of teenagers, and the complex emotions of adulthood through personal and original stories and situations. I don't want to give a lot away but simply recommend anyone reading this to at least give it a shot. You'll either love it or hate it, but I think the majority of you will love it.
