Batman, Green Arrow, Etrigan vs. Morgan Le Fay

On Friday, Cartoon Network’s The Brave and the Bold returns with a new episode, “Day of the Dark Knight”. The guest stars include Guy Gardner, Green Arrow, and Etrigan the Demon with David McCallum voicing Merlin.

The synopsis:

In this episode, the evil Morgan Le Fey has taken over Camelot and turned everyone to stone! To thwart her plans, Merlin transports Batman and Green Arrow back in time to retrieve Excalibur, defeat Etrigan, battle dragons and return King Arthur to the Throne!  In the teaser, Guy Gardner teams up with Batman to stop a criminal riot at Green Lantern Corp.

BBC confirms 'Merlin' series two

The BBC has confirmed that Merlin will return for a second series. Anthony Head, who plays King Uther Pendragon in the show, last week revealed to Digital Spy that Merlin will be back for a second run. The fantasy series, which focuses on the young wizard's friendship with King Arthur, has been a Saturday-night ratings success since debuting on BBC One in September. Posters: Clive Owen Doubles His Pleasure

When, exactly, was the last Clive Owen movie? After riding a pretty big wave of success that saw him go from the extremely average King Arthur to an Oscar nomination in Closer in six months, which was followed by great turns in Sin City and Inside Man, we haven't seen as much of Owen. Children of Men got rave reviews but was a commercial misfire, and Shoot 'Em Up bombed and Elizabeth: The Golden Age was not as good as it should have been.

So to answer our own question, by the time The International opens in February, it will have been about a year and a half since the last Clive Owen movie, but over two years since the last really good one.

He's hoping that turns around with back-to-back flicks that look really good, as far as I'm concerned: The sociopolitical thrilla The International and the the crime comedy Duplicity.

Ray Stevenson Joins the Hughes Brother's Book of Eli

Actor Ray Stevenson, who stars as Frank Castle this Friday in Punisher: War Zone, has joined the already impressive cast of the Hughes Brother's Book of Eli. You may recognize the name of this movie because this isn't the first time we've mentioned it, as a teaser poster showed up at the Afm a few weeks back. Stevenson will star alongside of Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis in this post-apocalyptic western, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. Ray Stevenson picks up 'Book of Eli'

Ray Stevenson, who will next be seen in "Punisher: War Zone," has signed on to star in Albert and Allen Hughes’s upcoming drama “The Book of Eli.”

Denzel Washington is on board to play Eli, a hero who travels across America to protect a sacred book and pass on the knowledge of what could be society’s way to redemption.

According to Variety, Stevenson plays an enforcer ordered to kill Eli. Also starring is Mila Kunis, who plays a woman who first tries to betray but later joins Eli on his quest. Gary Oldman stars as the despot of a small town.

The Hughes brothers, who last helmed “From Hell,” are directing Gary Whitta’s script, which Anthony Peckham rewrote. Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment are producing the project.

Stevenson is also known for his role as Titus Pullo on HBO's "Rome." Other credits include "King Arthur" and "The Theory of Flight.

Andromeda Strain director takes on the grail legend in Mortal Armor

Mikael Salomon, director of the Mftv Andromeda Strain miniseries is teaming up with scifi producer extraordinaire, Gale Anne Hurd (Aliens, Terminator, The Abyss),to bring a 25-50 million dollar film about the quest for the Holy Grail to the big screen. Joel Gross, director of the awesomely underrated quasi apocalyptic flick No Escape is writing the film that is currently in pre-production.

With his dying breath, King Arthur asks the young Galahad to seek out the Holy Grail. His last hope? That the Grail's discovery might save the war-ravaged Kingdom from destruction. But as Galahad's epic journey unfolds, the quest for this holy and mysterious object leads him down unexpected new paths, as he finds his first love, his long-lost father Lancelot, and seeks to prove himself as a knight.

The flick is being produced by Seven Arts Pictures who are also behind the upcoming Neuromancer project.

'Tom Thumb' Gonna Rock the Big Screen

"Tom Thumb" is springing up into the big screen. Warner Bros will produce the new 'Thumb' as live-action movie, although the character of Thumb will be brought to life with computer technology. This comedy-adventure will develop more on the heroism of the character than its original story.

"Enchanted" director Kevin Lima has been assigned by Warner Bros. to helm the project. The movie is originally adapted from a British legend dated back in the 1500s with the original screenplay penned by Robert Rodat, who has been buzzed for writing "Saving Private Ryan". Cult Spy: Merlin's TV History

The BBC's lavish adaptation of the Arthurian legend has now arrived on our screens, depicting Merlin the sorcerer as a young lad moving into adulthood. But the character is no stranger to television, as Cult Spy's look at his past shows. Colin Morgan's current interpretation of Merlin certainly stands out from others, mainly because the magician is usually depicted as a wise and world-weary figure. Holy. Freaking. Shit...What a show! Dragon*Con was as good as its billing as the largest show of its kind. The place was Swamped! And the best part was the extraordinary amount of people in costume. Needless to say, it was a little intimidating to be releasing our first graphic novel, The Minions of Ka, at such a place.

It started rather slowly. I was invited as a guest and was supposed to have a table. But, much like an airline, Dragon*Con overbooked its guests. Til Schweiger is a 'Bastard' too

I don’t know how many articles I recently posted about the casting process of “Inglorious Bastards,” but it sure feels like quite a lot.

The latest to join the pack of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming WWII drama is no other than German star actor-director Til Schweiger, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Schweiger is set to star as a member of a Nazi killer team. Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Mike Myers, Michael Fassbender and B.J. Novak co-star.

Now, the article also mentions Daniel Brühl, who’s apparently also on board. I have to admit I missed that one.

Although Schweiger is not exactly a Hollywood regular, he’s had his share of appearances in major blockbusters. Acting credits include “King Arthur,” “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life” and “Driven.”

Shooting is scheduled to begin Oct. 13 in Germany. We’ll keep you posted.

Thank the Lord it appears the casting for Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards may be almost complete as production begins Oct. 13 in Germany and there doesn't appear too many more major roles to fill. The latest names added to the bunch are German star Til Schweiger and Daniel Bruhl, the Spanish-born son of German director Hanno Bruhl. Bruhl and Schweiger join Diane Kruger, Christoph Waltz and Paul Rust who were added to the cast last Friday. Schweiger will play a member of the Nazi killer team, headed by Brad Pitt's character, Lt. Aldo Raine. Ain't It Cool speculates Bruhl may be playing the wily Gestapo major Dieter Hellstrom, or perhaps Nazi sniper-hero Frederick Zoller, or perhaps the German-speaking member of Raine's crew not played by Schweiger. The waif-like star, 23, reportedly dismissed studio bosses' suggestion to use computer trickery to boost her petite breasts on publicity posters.

John Woo Directing His First Comic Book Movie

Filmmaker John Woo has been hired to direct an adaptation of the upcoming comic book Caliber that will debut next week at Comic-Con. The comic story sets King Arthur and his knights as 19th century gunslingers in the Pacific Northwest. Apparently this one necessarily be Woo's next film, since he's finish up work on his two-part epic Red Cliff and has other projects lined up afterwards, including a film titled 1949. Woo has been criticized quite a bit here on the site, as he's one of the few directors who I genuinely hate. This project sounds like one of the worst he's planning to take on, similar to Paycheck, another disastrous film that he directed. Does anyone think Caliber could be any good? There's not much out there on this Caliber comic yet and that's because Radical Comics is launching the first issue at Comic-Con. So the comic has no buzz,
