Emeril Lagase is an exceedingly irritating chef who spends half his time yelling "BAM!" and "We're gonna KICK IT UP A NOTCH!" Aside from being the Food Network's most annoying personality, he's also the proud beneficiary of a failed sitcom and a Crest toothpaste commercial. I've seen several episodes of his live cooking program where he did the bam exclamation and actually hurled pots of sauté on the floor. Meanwhile his audience laps it up and claps like buffoons. I would have never expected this behavior from him a decade ago. A long time ago he used to have another cooking program where he was nice and reserved. Why can't he be like Malto Mario? Mario is fun without being over the top or scary and he teaches you a lot about Italy. The Food Network should give Emeril an 11 PM time slot.
