The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

There is a video tape, labeled "Swimsuit Special" but it is not played.

A man tells a story, where he was at a party about to make out with a girl but she threw up before he could. (More gross than sexual)

Violence & Gore

There is a graphic description of a woman's injuries after being hit by a truck and pinned against a tree. A man hits an extraterrestrial being repeatedly with a baseball bat. A man tries to see what is in a barricaded pantry by using the blade of a butcher knife; a sharp-nailed "hand" reaches out from under the door and the man chops some of its fingers off, (no blood or inner meat is shown). An extraterrestrial's skin bubbles and disintegrates when touched by water and we see some "burned" tissue on a dead extraterrestrial's body, (not gross, merely looks discolored). An extraterrestrial holds a boy in his arms threatening to kill him with poison gas, and then sprays the gas in the boy's nose. A boy nearly dies from a severe asthma attack. We see a dead dog with a grilling fork in his neck (no blood is shown)-- a young boy cries over the dog; explaining that he killed the dog after it tried to attack his sister -- and a woman pulls the fork out. We hear a dog being killed by something; the dog starts by barking, then whines and whimpers, then becomes silent. The fingers of an extraterrestrial grab the neck of a boy through a coal shaft, and extraterrestrial fingers reach under a door. People are trapped inside a house and we see shadows of something passing by the windows and hear creaking as they walk along the porch; then they begin to pound on the doors and windows trying to get in the house. A man walks into a dark cornfield, hears noises, drops his flashlight and when he picks it up again it illuminates the leg of a strange creature, and the man runs in terror. Two men chase something around a house yelling obscenities and threats. Two men wake up in a start, hear children screaming from a distance, and tear through cornfields to find a little girl and boy standing amidst newly created crop circles. A dog snarls snaps and barks at two children, and a dog barks frantically, snarls and jumps at a man. A man talks about having fallen asleep while driving then hitting and killing a woman walking along the road. People hear strange noises on a baby monitor. Something knocks over a garbage can, jumps onto a roof and darts into a cornfield (hear, not seen). We see an illustration of a house being hit by energy rays from a space ship and three bodies lying in the front yard. We see a puddle where a dog urinated on a kitchen floor. A woman talks about another woman spitting on skateboards in a store. There are continuous reports on TV news about crop circles in fields across the world, sightings of UFOs, the potential for an extraterrestrial invasion, many people having been killed by extraterrestrials using a poison gas, and mass-hysteria. A video broadcast on TV shows an extraterrestrial creature (a biped) walking in a street as children watch and scream in fear. A little girl has a "feeling" that something bad is going to happen to her brother. A man talks about leaning in to kiss a woman, but stopping when he realized he had gum in his mouth, and when he leaned over again she vomited. A man yells at his children, and a man has a spot of blood on his shirt.

Profanity

One use of "shit."

A few uses of mild profanity, for example "bitch" and "ass."

A girl confesses to an ex-priest about her uses of curse words. 1 reference to the "F-word" and "shits," "bastards," and "douchebag."

Caroline mentions some stranger who had a fit when they didn't have her favorite cigarettes in a vending machine.

A man is shown taking a final puff of a cigarette before throwing it out.

This movie is VERY scary! It plays with your mind and is very much a psychlogical thriller.

Merrill watches a frightening news broadcast that shows an extraterrestrial in Brazil. This scene will almost certainly send a shiver down your spine.

After a man brings in a TV, he sees the reflection of an extraterrestrial on the screen. The extraterrestrial then begins to attack a young boy. This scene is also very frightening.

A man cuts off a few of an alien's fingers when it reaches for him under a door. The aliens screams in pain, which is very frightening/startling.

The scenes with the aliens may upset young, sensitive or xenophobic viewers.

Talk about aliens invading earth is quite concerning and frightening.
