Another "Wardrobe Malfunction" Hits CBS

1 October 2008 10:44 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

Another apparent "wardrobe malfunction" has gotten CBS into another battle with the Parents Television Council, which filed an indecency complaint against the network with the FCC on Tuesday. The PTC filed its complaint after a brief scene in last Thursday night's Survivor: Gabon, showing a contestant running in his boxer shorts, revealed a glimpse of his penis. CBS said that until the scene was posted on YouTube and other sites it had "received one viewer comment from the 13 million who watched the telecast." The network's statement said: "This was a completely unintentional, inadvertent and fleeting incident that was virtually undetectable when viewed in real-time." The PTC responded: "CBS' decision to hide behind excuses that the incident was 'fleeting' and didn't generate an immediate flood of complaints is the epitome of irresponsibly. The number of 'fleeting' penises we expect to see on broadcast television is zero." In fact the show was seen by fewer people than any previous Survivor season debut. For the first time, the premiere did not land in Nielsen's top ten.

Survivor: China's Jaime Dugan and Erik Huffman may not have won the prize money when they were voted off the island last year, but the couple won the ultimate prize: love. Dugan, 23, and Huffman, 27, who got engaged a couple of months ago in Charleston, S.C., are revealing the details of his proposal – which took place during a fake photo shoot elaborately planned by Huffman – and their romance. "When I turned around and saw him on his knee, I thought he was doing a really weird pose," Dugan tells People exclusively. "Slowly it started to sink in. I was thrilled.

Leary 'Offended' By Un-funny Emmy Hosts

23 September 2008 9:10 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Actor/comedian Denis Leary has blasted the reality TV hosts of Sunday night's 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - because their lack of comic timing "offended" him.

Network executives capitalised on the growing reality TV craze by bestowing the M.C. honour upon the hosts of five popular U.S. shows - American Idol's Ryan Seacrest, Project Runway's Heidi Klum, Dancing with the Stars' Tom Bergeron, Deal or No Deal's Howie Mandel and Survivor's Jeff Probst.

And Leary is furious producers didn't consider him or one of his more talented colleagues for the gig - because he insists he saw them all cringing in the audience as the ceremony unfolded.

He says, "I don't mind losing, I'm just happy to be there. Which sounds cliche, except last night I went from being happy to be there to being incredibly bored.

"And I had no empathy for how bad these five hosts were. And after opening I was like, you know what? I want to see them crash and burn on live TV - I want to see them melt - except for Heidi Klum, I love her.

"I was offended as a comedian... I'm so sick and tired of people saying, 'You just write funny lines and put anybody up there' - No, to be funny is actually a job and it takes required training.

"I have material left over from Fashion Rocks, if they said to me, 'Hey, the whole show is crashing and burning. Can you get up there?' I could've been funnier than what was going on.

"And it just offended me as a comedian that this is what Hollywood thinks: That you put these four (sic) reality show announcers up there and they're going to run the show? No, it doesn't work that way. It takes years of drinking and self-abuse."

The series - starring creator Fey, Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan - won the Outstanding Comedy Series award, while TV series Mad Men claimed its own top honour for Outstanding Drama Series.

Fey and Baldwin each took home top honours of Outstanding Lead Actress and Actor in a Comedy Series for their roles on the show.

'Mad Men' Scores First Primetime Emmy Winning, Outstanding Drama Series

21 September 2008 10:14 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Receiving a total of 16 nominations at the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, "Mad Men" scooped the top honor at the awards show Sunday, September 21, being handed the Outstanding Drama Series award. The winning marked the first time ever that the AMC's drama won an Emmy.

"Mad Men", created by screenwriter, television producer, and director Matthew Weiner, premiered on July 19, 2007 and completed its first season on October 18 the same year. Its story is set in the early 1960s and follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell. In addition to its first Emmy winning on the star-studded award event, held at the Nokia Theatre, the series already received Golden Globe and Peabody Award just to name a few. The second season of "Mad Men" began on July 27, 2008.

Tina Fey and Jeff Probst Win Emmy Awards

21 September 2008 8:15 AM, PDT | From PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news

The 60th annual Primetime Emmys finally got real – and finally funny, too. In terms of the former, for the sixth year running, CBS's The Amazing Race was named best reality series. But in the newly-created best reality show host category, it was Survivor's Jeff Probst who raced away with the Emmy Sunday night. "Thank you for allowing reality in," said Probst during his acceptance at Los Angeles's Nokia Theater. As for finally getting funny, after an otherwise slow start, 30 Rock was showered with Emmys – and an octogenarian comedian named Don Rickles showed he could still bring an audience to its feet.

Jeremy Piven seized the opportunity as Sunday night's first winner of the 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards to crack wise about the slow opening to the ceremony at Los Angeles's Nokia Theater. The Entourage star, winning his third Emmy for his supporting comedy actor role as abrasive Hollywood agent Ari Gold on the HBO series, said he'd just flown in from New York, where he's rehearsing a play, and "maybe I should go into roofing, I'm so bad." Thanking the few people who laughed at his remark, Piven explained it was a joke – then said: “What if I just kept talking for 12 minutes,

CBS is using oil-rich Gabon as the home of its newest "Survivor" series. But there's a real-life survivor of the tiny African nation who won't be on the show - one who lived through torture and voodoo spells.

The daughter-in-law of Gabon President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba says the tropical country that borders Congo and Cameroon is really a hell on Earth. American-born Inge Bongo, who's married to fabulously wealthy Ali Bongo, the president's son, tells Page Six she suffered horrific abuse and torture at her in-laws' hands and has the scars to prove it.

Hosts of 60th Primetime Emmy Awards Got Into Scuffle in 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'

18 September 2008 8:29 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

In anticipation of the imminent Primetime Emmy Awards, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" has brought in all the five hosts of the 60th annual event to the show, which results in a tiny scuffle. Ryan Seacrest ("American Idol"), Tom Bergeron ("Dancing with the Stars"), Heidi Klum ("Project Runway"), Howie Mandel ("Deal or No Deal") and Jeff Probst ("Survivor") all had a little discussion about paycheck.

The five-piece who will all share hosting duties this weekend, sat in front of Kimmel as part of his show's episode called "Big Night of Stars" which is aimed to promote the Emmy Awards. Kimmel dropped the bomb when asking about how much each of them is paid for their MC duties. After a heated argument between the men, Seacrest lunged into Probst and got into a fight. Klum, meanwhile, steered off the scene.

"Big Night of Stars" will air on ABC, Sunday, September 21 at 7:00 P.

Peace and love may not prevail at Sunday night's 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, if Jimmy Kimmel's recent interview with the ceremony's five hosts is any indication. Survivor's Diaries Yanked From Ebay

10 September 2008 10:36 AM, PDT | From Studio Briefing | See recent Studio Briefing news

A former Survivor contestant who had attempted to auction off her personal diaries about her experience on the reality show learned late Monday that CBS had persuaded eBay to remove the listing. According to Broadcasting & Cable, Nicole Delma, who appeared on Survivor: Pearl Islands in 2003, included accounts of how scenes in the series were staged or reshot. The trade publication said on its website that Delma received a telephone call from CBS attorneys just hours before the auction was to conclude and as bidding for the diaries climbed to over $2000. Delma said that she asked CBS to provide her with documentation that they own her "life story." A CBS spokesman later told B&C, "The only thing more boring than a reality contestant being reminded about their [confidentiality] contract is the press coverage that inevitably follows."
