Parents Guide for
Fight Club (1999) More at IMDb Pro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .
Visit our Parents Guide Help to learn more

Sex & Nudity

Contains infrequent sex scenes. In some scenes, two characters can be heard having sex rather aggressively. And a brief blurred sex scene (via an opening through a door). The most graphic sex scene is one in which the characters can be seen having sex in various positions (no actual movements are seen, just still frames, and brief breasts are seen).

Contains infrequent moderate nudity (i.e. two very brief images of a penis), and brief fleeting shots of a woman's breasts.

Violence & Gore

There are several scenes involving fights, often with bloody results. Usually showing faces covered with blood. Peoples heads being punched and bashed into the ground, close ups are used and is quite violent to watch

A man is shot in the back of the head, his body is later shown on a table and his eyes are wide open, and blood and brain matter evident.

Someone is seen receiving stitches on the head but not directly seen.

A man is shown with bad swelling to his face from a fight and shots of scars on people's hands.

A scene where a character has blood down the side of his face from a gun wound to the face.

A character's hand is burnt with acid, not graphic but his reaction is intense.

There are also two brief shots of two characters with bullet wounds to the back of their heads.

None of the violence is irrelevant to the story.

There is a graphic vomit scene.

Profanity

Contains occassional strong coarse language.

Some characters are shown smoking throughout the film, including one chain smoker.

There are no depictions of illegal drug use or substance abuse.

The scene where the narrator's hand is burnt with acid is intense

The violent scenes can be intense. There is one where Tyler allows a man to beat him. Tyler seems very deranged and is laughing yelling, "You don't know where I've been" as he grabs hold of the man, forcing him to the floor. He then deliberately makes the blood from a gash on his head splatter.

Men take a government official into a bathroom, strip him down, and threaten to cut off his testicles.
