Sandra Bullock says her selfish attitude is what's made her happy. The 'Speed' actress - who is married to motocross enthusiast Jesse James - admits she has always put herself first and doesn't worry what anyone else thinks, even if they correctly advise her that her actions are wrong. She said: "I never did anything according to what anyone else wanted. That's why I think I am happy. I do everything 100 per cent - even my stupidest missteps. I know when I'm getting ready to mess up, I'm going to do it full-on. "I look back at some things and go, 'I can't believe I did that. But I know I can make amends,' and we can all »

This is some very upsetting news.
It appears that actor Dennis Hopper has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Earlier this month, there were some reports that Hopper had been rushed to the hospital for an undisclosed reason. Now, according to the BBC, Hopper is entering a special program for treatment in California. The initial stay in the hospital was reportedly due to flu-like symptoms and dehydration.
Hopper has had a long and varied history in cinema, ranging back to his friendship in his youth with actor James Dean. He went from playing bit parts to writing, directing, and starring in Easy Rider, which many regard as one of the formative films of 1960s and 1970s cinema. Since then, he has played many memorable roles in over 200 productions, ranging from villains in Speed and Waterworld to a psychotic photographer in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now and as Frank Booth in Blue Velvet. »

The revelation that Hollywood legend Dennis Hopper has prostate cancer is a hard pill to swallow. A man of magnanimous presence on screen, and star of films such Easy Rider, Mad Dog Morgan, Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet and Speed, he has undoubtedly made his name as a tough guy not to be messed with. However, he must now focus all his strength and attention on recovery, which, as a result, puts his artistic endeavours on the backburner. First on the list is the cancellation of Hopper's imminent plans to arrive in Melbourne. The subject of an exclusive Australian exhibition due to open Thursday 12 November at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (Acmi), Hopper had arranged to fly in next week to oversee the installation, and take part in the official opening program. »

Sandra Bullock is embroiled in a custody battle between her husband and his porn star ex.
The Speed actress is standing by her celebrity mechanic husband Jesse James as he fights his second wife Janine Lindemulder's attempts to regain custody of their five-year-old daughter, Sunny.
James has had sole guardianship of the child since Lindemulder, a former adult film star, was jailed for tax evasion. She served six months behind bars and was recently released.
But James is determined not to let his ex gain custody of their daughter, because he fears his little girl would be introduced to a dangerous world if she lived with her mother.
In a statement to the court, James says, "Good cause exists for the court to conduct a review to determine if (Sunny) will be safe with (Lindemulder). She should be restrained from allowing the child around pornographers, drug addicts, guns and firearms, felons and other unsafe environments."
Bullock, who has no biological children, recently admitted she relishes her role as stepmum to James' three kids.
She explained, "I may never hear that word 'mom'. But being a parent is not about breeding. It's about caring.
"When you don't have that title, you flounder and it hurts. But this is the best test of being a parent. And I just have to keep reminding myself I don't care what I get. I care what I give." »

Keanu Reeves' battle with a woman alleging he's the father of her kids is set to drag on - she is contesting the results of a paternity test.
DNA tests have conclusively disproved Karen Sala's claims that the Speed star is the biological dad of at least one of her kids - but the 46 year old is relaunching her bid for financial support, according to Reeves' lawyer.
The actor's attorney Lorne Wolfson tells Eonline.com, "Ms. Sala is challenging the validity of the DNA testing, so the case goes on."
Wolfson is adamant, however, that Reeves will not have to take another test: "If (Sala) wants to challenge it, let her go right ahead. But we are confident that the DNA testing was done properly and that the results are sound."
Reeves maintains he doesn't even know Sala, who asked for $150,000 (£100,000)-per-month in child support, retroactive from 1988, and $3 million (£2 million)-a-month in spousal support, effective from 2006. »

Erik Buckman: Romantic comedies, like nearly every film in the horror genre, have a small playing field and a list of guidelines in which to play from. Here’s a list of some of those guidelines:
1. You must have an “airport scene.” You know, where the guy sprints to the airport to declare his love before it’s too late? If you can’t have an airport scene, you must have some kind of a chase with the guy (it’s always a dude) chasing the gal on foot while she is in a fast-moving 40-ton vehicle.
2. The story must focus on a guy who must either be a hardcore philanderer that is afraid of real love/commitment, or on a nasty woman who fills the large void where her personal life should be, with her career. The two are interchangeable…but not usually.
3. The kiss that changes everything.

FX continues its unprecedented ramp up of original programming with the network today placing series orders of two new dramas, Terriers and Lights Out, announced FX President and General Manager John Landgraf. FX has ordered 13 episodes of each series, with Terriers tentatively slated to premiere next summer and Lights Out in late 2010.
Terriers, from Creator/Executive Producer Ted Griffin (Ocean's Eleven) and Executive Producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield), is a comedic drama starring Donal Logue (The Tao of Steve, Damages) and Michael Raymond-James (True Blood). It centers on "Hank Dolworth" (Logue), an ex-cop who partners with his best friend "Britt Pollack" (Raymond-James) to launch an unlicensed private investigation business. The duo, both struggling with maturity issues, solve crimes while avoiding danger and responsibility. Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow, The Shield) directed the pilot episode. Terriers is produced by Fox 21.

Back in March, director Jan de Bont (Speed, Twister) was getting ready to shoot the "Point Break" sequel in Indonesia and Australia. Then Bont was replaced by Jeff Wadlow and the project seemingly came to a screeching halt. Moviehole tried to get in touch with several of its studio contacts to find out if there has been any movement on "Point Break Indo," but didn't get many responses. Then a bit later in the day, the site heard back from two trusted sources, both stating that the project is currently dead. The sequel may one day happen, but at this stage, all attached cast members (Damien Walshe-Howling, Rick Otto) have been freed up to work on other projects. »

When you consider the action sequels you’d have strangled at birth if only you were blessed with the chance – Beverley Hills Cop 3, Speed 2, anything with Michael Bay’s name on it – the news that Point Break 2 has been aborted should cause movie fans everywhere to aimlessly fire their gun into the air with relief.
The original 1991 Kathryn Bigelow actioner which dared to push Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze into the same frame has been the subject of much sequel speculation. Tentatively titled Point Break: Indo (as in Indonesia), the surfer sequel would have seen the FBI investigating a series of, er, pirating incidents from a gang calling themselves “The Bush Administration”. That’s satire kids.
Initially news that original Break scribe, the back to front named W. Peter Iliff would be handling the screenplay caused some excitement in the movie surfer community, excitement which soon evaporated upon »

Sandra Bullock may yet be one of our great living movie stars, capable of stealing just about any scene from any other actor. If only she could just find her place. Her role as the woman who winds up driving the bus in Speed was the breakout performance of a lifetime. In one scene, the bus approaches a lady crossing the street pushing a baby carriage. There's nothing anyone can do, so Sandra just screams and covers her eyes. The baby carriage goes flying, and -- not a baby -- but empty cans go flying and rattling all over, with the angry woman shaking her fist at the departing bus. Keanu Reeves tries to calm Sandra down by explaining that it was just cans. Her hysteria lasts a few more seconds, but it's so over-the-top utterly charming that Keanu can't help but smile at her. I've always suspected that that »

Keanu Reeves has agreed to take a DNA test after a woman claimed he's the father of her four grown-up children.
Karen Sala, who is seeking millions in spousal and child support from the Speed star, filed suit against Reeves in May, seeking a paternity test to prove he fathered her offspring, who are all now in their mid-20s.
The Matrix actor denied he'd had a relationship with the 46 year old, and was seeking a court dismissal over the claims.
But he has now finally given in to her demands to officially verify whether he is the father by undergoing a DNA test during the next few weeks, according to TMZ.com. »

I always knew Timothy Olyphant of Deadwood fame had a little Clint Eastwood in him. After seeing this three minutes of footage from Lawman, the new “modern Western” from the FX Channel and “Speed” writer Graham Yost, I think I was wrong: Olyphant’s character in Lawman doesn’t have a little Eastwood in him, he has a lot. Check out the footage shown to press at the recent TCA. Lawman is based on a short story by Elmore Leonard called “Fire in the Hole”, and will star Olyphant as a modern-day Marshall who takes out the trash while somehow managing to keep his cowboy hat on at all times and never losing his cool, cause, you know, he’s cool that way. The show is scheduled to appear on the FX Channel’s slate in the Spring of 2010. In the pilot episode, The Shield’s Walton Goggins will play the villain. »

Lawman is a new FX series based on the popular Elmore Leonard character "Raylan Givens", as featured in his short story Fire in the Hole. Developed by Graham Yost (Boomtown, Speed) and staring Timothy Olyphant, Lawman will premiere on FX in spring of 2010. Olyphant stars in the lead role of Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. Givens is a modern day 19th century-style lawman, enforcing his brand of justice in a way that puts a target on his back with criminals and places him at odds with his bosses in the Marshal service. That conflict results in a reassignment for Givens to the U.S. District covering the town where he grew up. He is an anachronism: A tough, soft-spoken gentleman who finds his quarry fascinating, but never gives an inch. Dig under his placid skin and you'll find an angry man who grew up hard in rural Kentucky, with an outlaw father, »

The Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynold romantic comedy as just become the #19 highest grossing romantic comedy of all, surpassing the success of the Sex And The City movie. It is also Sandra Bullock's highest grossing film to day, quite a feat considering that she starred in high-earners like Speed.
More after the jump.
Adjusting for inflation, Box Office Mojo lists "The Proposal" as the 19th highest grossing romantic comedy of all time in North America. ("Pretty Woman" is No. 1; "Sex and the City," is No. 20.)
Bullock has been breaking records both sides of the Atlantic proving she still has what it takes to open a movie. UK audiences flocked to the cinema for the opening of The Proposal in July making it her biggest UK opening ever (£3,233,422) and beating previous record holder 'Two Weeks Notice' (£2.6) by a stellar 25%.
