Happy New Year to all my brothers and sisters. May 5769 kick a whole lot more ass than 5768. While over 98% of Hollywood takes the day off, here's what's happening:

Variety reports that Michael Bay has taken a page from Christopher Nolan and will shoot "at least three action set pieces" using IMAX cameras during Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Usually I'd reserve this spot for a Bay joke, but I truly think this is a great thing for a film like Transformers. The action scenes in the last one felt claustrophobic (especially toward the end), and so utilizing IMAX would allow Bay and Co. to open it up and really have fun with the thing. Visually, this could add a lot to the film. Hopefully they'll use it for some massive robot battle.

Aiken Feared For Newborn Son

26 September 2008 8:57 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Singer Clay Aiken realised the difficulties of fatherhood when his son became sick just weeks after his birth.

The American Idol star and the baby's mother - Aiken's friend and record producer Jaymes Foster - feared for their son Parker's health when he was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis, a condition that affects the gastrointestinal tract, in August.

And Aiken - who conceived Parker via in vitro fertilisation - quickly realised he had to start acting like a father.

He tells People.com, "He had been gassy for weeks and then he started throwing up.

"Jaymes and I were trying to be calm, rational parents, so we didn't call the doctors too much, but it just got to a point where he was vomiting everything. He was starting to get dehydrated.

"I was a little worried, like 'I don't think they're going to let me in the hospital at two or three in the morning'. Then I thought, 'Wait a second, I'm the father! Of course they'll let me in'.

"It was the first moment when I thought, 'I'm actually this child's father!'

"I was like, wait a second, this is my responsibility, I need to take care of this child, and he can't ask questions for himself. It was a reality check, like this is the real deal."

Aiken says Parker is now on the road to recovery, adding, "He's fine, healthy and doing well!"

Aiken Thought Homosexuality Was A 'Phase'

24 September 2008 12:01 PM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

American Idol star Clay Aiken struggled for most of his life to accept his sexuality because he was convinced it was just a "phase".

The 29-year-old singer revealed he was homosexual in the new issue of U.S. magazine People, featuring him in a photospread with his new baby son Parker on the cover.

And Aiken recalls it wasn't until he moved out from his North Carolina home to the west coast that he felt comfortable enough to make the admission.

He recalls, "I don't know many people who are (gay) who weren't confused... When I got out to Los Angeles and I realised there are 'normal' people who are (gay), it became a little easier for me... The first person I ever told was (fellow American Idol finalist) Kim Locke, and that's why we became best friends and roommates. It was the first time I ever admitted it to myself...

"I probably didn't realise until college, when I was like, I just cannot get the hang of this! I thought it was always a phase, like I hadn't hit puberty. Like I hadn't finished yet. Like I was a late bloomer... I was raised around people who thought it was a choice."
