CBS's surprise-hit science drama, C.S.I., now has a soundtrack that squares well with the show's cyber labs and street scenes rippled with dusky moods and dark colors. The music mix veers from some dinosaur classics to alt rock's neo-trends. Big rock opens the show, in the form of an unnecessarily edited version of the Who's "Who Are You" and the Wallflowers' single for 2002, "Everybody Out of the Water." But then things start for lesser charted waters with New Order's "Crystal" and a host of aptly eerie soundscapes. Clinic's freaked, thump-pop "Come into Our Room" steers the set toward a dazzling mix of electro-beats, guitar grit, and groove. The dance beats multiply behind a galaxy of Grand Theft Audio and Curve's guitars. The Chambers Brothers and Robbie Robertson circle the focus back to rock's base, but the soundtrack, like the show, is about a new thing: the emergence of smart, sly music that's ideal for smart, sly science types solving mind-boggling crimes. --Andrew Bartlett

Keane's Music is the Hallmark of CSI, Jun 8 2004 By  Jackie "bestdealsforyou" (Orlando, FL United States) - See all my reviews I loved this CD, but was looking mostly for John M. Keane's compositions. His music is what creates the emotion and thrilling tension in every CSI episode. If you want a REAL treat, check out his SOLO CD "Straight Away," which highlights his amazing musical and technical prowess. He uses his own depth defining lyrics and vocals too. It's a MUST HAVE for any REAL CSI fan! Check it out -- they sell it right here in Amazon.com. Listen to the audio samples and you will recognize Mr. Keane's style right away. (Report this)   Great addition to CD collection, Dec 30 2003 By  "suedaisy" (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews I adore the show, and after reading the reviews and seeing the variety of music on there, I thought, what the heck - I'll get it. I was so amazed by the range of musicians and music they have on the CD. It covered almost all of my musical taste. The other reviews are much better.. but I wanted to give my 2 cents and just say how cool it is. Yea, it's a compilation of a lot of music that may or may not have been on the show, but I guarantee that they picked the best unknown songs from well-known artists (in my humble opinion).
