Kiefer Sutherland returns to the big screen in Alexandre Aja's horror remake "Mirrors," which wasn't received all that well by the nation's top critics. But what about the people on the Web? What do they have to say about Jack Bauer's effort as a security guard becoming obsessed with evil mirrors? Let's find out below. The flick also stars Paula Patton and Amy Smart.
• William Goss at Cinematical: "I remain confident that Aja is a capable and competent horror filmmaker in an age when they seem so far and few between, but the man can only do so much with so little."
• CinemaBlend's Mack Rawden: "It’s just pointless, lacking in originality, and prone to shooting itself in the glass. There’s a plethora of good through-the-mirror camera shots, but they get overused and weak by the end."
• Brian Orndorf at Collider: "With Aja slathering on the cheap boo scares,

Filmmaker Alexandre Aja is currently promoting the release of his latest flick Mirrors, (due out Friday August 15th and starring Kiefer Sutherland, Amy Smart and Paula Patton) before jumping right onto his next feature, a remake of Piranha in 3D! Recent rumors came out that screenwriting duo Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Feast, Saw IV, V & VI and the upcoming Hellraiser remake) were brought on board to write a draft. This came as peculiar news considering Aja and his writing partner Grégory Levasseur always write their own scripts, including High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes and P2. Melton clarified their involvement with Shock Till You Drop:
He tells Shock, "We were hired about a month ago for a two-week production polish. I wouldn't even classify it as a rewrite, we we're simply brought in to help out on a few plot points and character details. Nothing big. Those two weeks have come and gone,

I’ve been a fan of French horror director Alexandre Aja ever since I first saw his gag-inducing 2003 film, High Tension. That respect only grew with his remake of The Hills Have Eyes, which was sadistic enough to make a nun cry. This month the connoisseur of gore ventures into ghostly territory with a remake of 2003 Korean horror-hit, Mirrors. And here’s your chance to preview the film’s opening scene.
(This clip is not safe for work viewing, and it is strictly for adults only!)
Mirrors tells the story of ex-cop (Kiefer Sutherland) who goes to work as a security guard in a local mall. There he discovers a department store whose collection of mirrors seem to give people a bit more reflection than they bargained for. When bodies start dropping, the security guard turns to his estranged wife (the über hot Paula Patton), a coroner, for help. But

With the summer's end in sight, this week might represent the last hurrah in the name of good fun before the gloomy, Oscar-baiting seriousness of the fall release schedule descends upon us. Woody's back, there's a grindhouse/B-movie double header, and in the realm of blockbuster comedy, it's the wily veteran versus the young upstart as Ben Stiller battles Seth Rogen in an all-out race to the stupid.

Although she was overshadowed by such greats as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, Anita O'Day became one of the "three queens of Jazz," in spite of an artform dominated by African-Americans and her struggle with her own personal demons. In this documentary, the famed white jazz vocalist reflects on nearly 70 years in the spotlight, not merely performing jazz, but living it as a lifestyle. O'Day's former manager Robbie Cavolina and

Empire Online premiered a new U.K. poster for Alexandre Aja’s upcoming horror remake “Mirrors,” about an ex-cop who struggles with evil mirrors. Kiefer Sutherland and Paula Patton star. The film opens Aug. 15, 2008.
Although the domestic one-sheet is not impressive either, I really don’t like this international poster. In fact, I don’t like much about this horror pic at this stage. I mean, in the end it looks just like every other recent Hollywood horror remake: disappointing and hardly original.
