I freely admit to having only seen a few minutes of CBS's "Forever Night"-ish vampire detective series "Moonlight" and coming away quite unimpressed. I assume most people agreed since CBS staked the low-rated series after one season. Yet it clearly developed a devoted following; there was a fervent online campaign to save the series and efforts were made to sell the show to another network - all for naught. Those fans will have to settle for a DVD box set of the show's one and only season.
DVD Active has reported that Warner Home Video will release a 4-disc package of all 16-episodes of the short-lived "Moonlight" on January 20th. All 16 episodes will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with English Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. The set will retail for $39.98. No extras. Nada. Zilch. Not even a copy of that petition.
For those in need of a refresher as to what

English actress Sophia Myles is appealing for the return of her wallet, after it was stolen during a trip to a Hollywood cinema.
The actress was robbed by a man sitting next to her at a screening of Don Cheadle's new movie Traitor.
She explains, "I got my wallet stolen last weekend at the Arclight cinema on Sunset Boulevard.
"There was a seat free next to me and I stupidly left my bag on that seat. Towards the end, I put my hand in to check my phone, and the dude just ran off. All my cards were in there. It's been such a hassle."

Jamie Bell has his best role since "Billy Elliot" in "Mister Foe," a darkly comic tale of a twisted teen on the cusp of adulthood.
When we first meet Bell's Hallam Foe, he's a feral 17-year-old who's exiled himself to a treehouse on his father's Scottish estate. He wears a badger-skin headdress, war paint, and sometimes his late mother's dress.
Hallam passes the time spying on his father (Ciaran Hinds, the devilish Mr. Lockhart in Broadway's "The Seafarer") and his beautiful stepmother

This week's trip to the multiplex offers a jaunt around the globe where, amongst other things, there's a case of mistaken ethnicity in Boston, Nic Cage gets another wig fitted in Thailand, there's whimsy and surrealism in Scotland and Matthew McConaughey is right at home in Malibu, where he might finally have found something he does well, maybe.
Strained emotional bonds and the transitory nature of the life of an illegal immigrant provide the backdrop for Chris Eska's quietly affecting family drama that stars Pedro Castaneda as an aging farmhand who loses his job at a chicken farm in a sleepy Texas town, forcing he and his devoted daughter-in-law (Veronica Loren) to relocate to San Antonio to stay with his older children and the grandchildren he never knew he had. As Alison Willmore pointed out in last week's Lunchbox, Castaneda is a first-time actor

In "Mister Foe," out Friday, young Hallam Foe (Jamie Bell of "Billy Elliot") spends most of his free time looking in people's windows. Especially those of his dream girl (Sophia Myles). He does this while wearing a wolverine pelt on his head and lipstick smears on his face and nipples.
The unorthodox dramedy has received mostly favorable reviews in the UK. But as far as we can see, the cinematic acceptability of Foe's little "quirk" comes from a long line of American films.

It looks as if Outlander is getting dumped to DVD on November 18th, or at least it's listed on Amazon.com. In Howard McCain's period piece, during the reign of the Vikings, Kainan (Jim Caviezel), a man from a far-off world, crash lands on Earth, bringing with him an alien predator known as the Moorwen. Though both man and monster are seeking revenge for violence committed against them, Kainan leads the alliance to kill the Moorwen by fusing his advanced technology with the Viking's Iron Age weaponry. Sophia Myles, Jack Huston, Ron Perlman and John Hurt also star in the pic, which features FX work by Patrick Tatopoulos.

Alex O’Loughlin had been working as an actor long before I became aware of him. He was born in Australia and started his acting career there with movies such as "The Oyster Farmer," "Feed" and "The Invisible". He also did the Australian miniseries "The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant" playing her husband. Alex made his way to the American shores in the 6th season of FX’s "The Shield" as a new member of the strike team, "The Holiday" starring Kate Winslet and Jude Law in 2006 and the 2007 movie "August Rush" with Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Keri Russell. But I found Alex on CBS’ "Moonlight". When I saw the ads for "Moonlight" in September of 2007, I knew I would watch because Alex caught my attention and I can’t resist a vampire story! At its heart, "Moonlight" was about drama, romance and adventure. As we were seeing the world through his eyes,

While some have already packed their bags and tidied up their camp sites following the campaign to bring Moonlight back to CBS, quite a number of fans are still clamoring for the return of the much-loved series which starred Alex O’Loughlin and Sophia Miles. The series, which only survived a season with a little under an average of 7.5 million viewers, was cut by CBS earlier this year because the network claimed that the ratings weren’t sufficient enough for a renewal. Moreover, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler admitted that unlike Jericho, the resurrected series with a passionate fanbase, Moonlight’s fans tend to support the actor behind it rather than the series itself.
"The response to Moonlight was actually more actor-centric, so I think it certainly measures our decision on the show," Tassler told reporters at the TCA last month.
Apparently CBS saw the potential in the Australian actor

Outlander is probably the most unexpected release of 2008. The concept of an evil alien being battled by Vikings and another (good) alien may sound pretty strange, but somehow it looks like Howard McCain is making it work.
Today another trailer for the film appeared on YouTube, and a good chunk of it shares the same footage found on the previous preview. Nevertheless, Outlander still looks quite badass. With John Hurt, Ron Perlman, and the hotness known as Sophia Myles in the cast ... how can it go wrong?

The first trailer was discovered this morning for Howard McCain's Outlander, which stars James Caviezel, Sophia Myles, Jack Huston, Ron Perlman, John Hurt. Click here to check it out! As an age old battle rages amongst the stars, Kainan's ship burns brightly as it crashes into the Nordic coast. As his space craft comes to rest in the fjords of ancient Norway, it's with dismay that Kainan realizes that he wasn't the only survivor. A second passenger, a Moorwen also emerges from the wreckage. A Fierce and animal-like creature, the Moorwen is intent on causing harm to those it perceives have wronged it. As the Moorwen kills everything in its path, Kainan must work together with the Vikings to destroy the beast before it destroys them all.

Brit actress Sophia Myles has admitted that she found putting on a Us accent for her new TV show Moonlight "easy", the Daily Star reports.
Myles, who stars as the love interest to Alex O'Loughlin's vampire private investigator in the show, claimed that living in the Us made it easier to pick up the accent.
Speaking at the Paley Television Centre in La, she said: "It's been really easy actually, because I've been living here for eight months now so I'm hearing . . .
