Next month is the Us Open. Arthur Ashe Stadium. Biggest thing to hit Queens since the Triborough. And loaded with celebrities creeping through every racket. Know how come they're there? Not just because someone shouted, "Tennis, anyone?" Because wangling VIPs into attending anything from an all-time sports championship to a butcher shop's opening is now big business.
Eight years ago, Lori Levine, who began life booking for Conan, opened Flying Television Productions. Now a top celebrity wrangler, she's into the corporate world plus showbiz entities like MTV, Entertainment Tonight, etc. One client is the Open.

According to Variety, Anderson is also set to produce and star in a biopic of renowned journalist Martha Gellhorn, a female war correspondent who covered major world conflicts, including the Spanish Civil War and Vietnam. She was also married to Ernest Hemingway.
Anderson acquired the rights to Caroline Moorehead’s biography “Gellhorn: A Twentieth-Century Life” via her production company Fiddlehead Prods. Sharman Macdonald is writing the script.
Anderson will next be seen alongside David Duchovny in “The X-Files: I Want to Believe,” which opens July 25, 2008. She also recently wrapped filming for Duncan Ward’s “Boogie Woogie.”

Actress Keira Knightley was happy to film a sex scene for new movie The Edge Of Love - even though the naked romp was written by her mother.
The movie's screenplay was penned by Knightley's mum, Sharman Macdonald, who also served as a producer on the project.
Knightley insists that knowing her mother is capable of writing about steamy clinches didn't faze her and she was happy to strip off wherever necessary.
She says, "She dared to put a sex scene in it. It didn't worry me that my mother knows what sex is.
"Come to think of it, I was found under an apple tree. My mother is a virgin. I had no hissy fits when she presented me with the scene."

Keira Knightley has no problem appearing in the buff for her latest film. In fact, she says it's becoming a habit. Keira Knightley isn't anorexic – her slim figure is thanks to her dad, not a restrictive diet, says the star's mom. "She has always been thin," Knightley's mother, Sharman Macdonald, told Britain's Sunday Times. "She's her daddy's daughter, with his long body." Like her father, the actress, 23, must "eat like a horse," to maintain her weight, Macdonald said. Knightley eats a diet high in protein and carbohydrates to make sure she doesn't lose any more weight.Last year, Knightley successfully sued Britain's Daily Mail, saying that the tabloid implied she'd lied about having an eating disorder. In 2006, Knightley vociferously denied that she suffered from anorexia.

Keira Knightley's screenwriter mother Sharman MacDonald has hit out at media rumours suggesting her daughter is suffering from anorexia - comparing the press to "playground bullies".
Knightley has long been dogged by rumours that her waif-like figure is the result of an eating disorder, but she has always denied this - blaming her genes for her naturally svelte figure.
Last year, the 23-year-old successfully sued a British tabloid newspaper for publishing an article which accused her of being anorexic and setting a bad example to young girls.
And the star's mother Macdonald can't understand why the media is so obsessed with her daughter's weight.
She tells British newspaper The Sunday Times, "She's always been thin. She's her daddy's daughter, with his long body.
"It's a playground situation that we're looking at with the press - it's a form of bullying - but what can we do?"

Keira Knightley clashed with her screenwriter mother Sharman MacDonald over their forthcoming movie The Edge Of Love - because the actress refused to play the part her mum had specifically written for her.
Macdonald told her daughter she had penned the role of Caitlin Thomas just for her in the upcoming film about Welsh poet Dylan Thomas - but the 23-year-old had other ideas.
Macdonald recalls, "I said, 'You're playing Caitlin,' and she said, 'No, I like Vera.'"
As a result, the part of Vera Phillips, one of the Welsh poet's love interests, was transformed - to Knightley's liking.
Macdonald adds: "She wasn't even a singer until Keira decided to play her."
The movie is set for its world premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival in Scotland on 18 June.

They shared a nude Vanity Fair cover, and now Keira Knightley is showing vocal prowess to rival that of other actress-turned-singer Scarlett Johansson. As Vera Philips, the lover of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas in the new biopic, The Edge of Love, Knightley, 23, sings "Blue Tahitian Moon." "I did some lessons with a voice coach because I can't sing," the actress recently said. "It was live. There were 100 extras and John [Maybury, the director] was like, 'Now you're going to sing.' I've never been so frightened in my entire life." The film, written by Knightley's mom, Sharman Macdonald, and costarring Sienna Miller and Matthew Rhys,

Hollywood stars like Julia Roberts, Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp look set to boycott this Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony to show their support to striking writers. Actors represented by the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) are in "unanimous agreement" not to ignore the plight of the Writers Guild of America union members, who are picketing over royalties. Announcing the union's decision on Friday, SAG president, Alan Rosenberg, said, "After considerable outreach to Golden Globe actor nominees and their representatives over the past several weeks, there appears to be unanimous agreement that these actors will not cross WGA (Writers' Guild of America) picket lines." In response to the boycott action, the WGA members thanked the SAG for its "solidarity and support." Other stars nominated for gongs at the prestigious ceremony include George Clooney, John Travolta, Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett and Jodie Foster - all of whom are unlikely to appear at the awards show if the WGA members do not reach an agreement with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which organizes the Golden Globes, in time for next Sunday. Knightley, who is up for Best Actress for her starring role in Atonement, is particularly supportive of the strike, because of her playwright mother, Sharman Macdonald. A representative for the British beauty confirms: "If the strike is still in place then Keira won't cross a picket line as her mother is a writer."

Keira Knightley has ruled out the prospect of marriage in the near-future - because she's been brought up to support herself.
The 22-year-old actress - who's in a longterm relationship with actor Rupert Friend - has heeded the advice of her mother Sharman MacDonald, who advised her against depending on men for financial and emotional support.
She tells Ok! magazine, "I'm from a very liberal upbringing. My mum's like, 'No, you get a job, you support yourself, never look to a man to support you.'
"I think getting married and having children would be lovely. But not right now or really any time soon."
