Airplane Graveyard in New 'Afterlife' Video Blog

25 November 2009 9:49 AM, PST | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

Now this is fun, and I give props to star Milla Jovovich who is showing genuine enthusiasm for her role of Alice in Screen Gems' forthcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife. Maybe it's because she's working with her husband, director Paul W.S. Anderson, or maybe it's all a ruse, either way I find her Twittering exciting and a taste of what's to come. Below you'll find her third behind-the-scenes video, this time teasing an airplane graveyard in the 3-D pic arriving in theaters August 27. While production winds down in Toronto, hopefully we'll see more of this in the future. Milla Jovovich, Boris Kodjoe, Ali Larter, Wentworth Miller, Spencer Locke, Kim Coates, Shawn Roberts, Norman Yeung, Kacey Barnfield all star. »

Paul W.S. Anderson Eyes Castlevania (Again)

21 November 2009 7:32 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Castlevania is a movie I do not hold high expectations for. Besides the fact that it is a video game adaptation, it seems to be going through development issues with a continuous set of director changes.

In January, Screen Rant reported that James Wan (Saw franchise) would be co-writing and directing and adaptation of the popular video game franchise, taking over from Paul W.S. Anderson (Death Race) as the writer/director and then Sylvain White (The Losers) who took the helm after Anderson.

After the studio decision to go with Wan, we’ve now come full circle and Paul W.S. Anderson is again set to direct. We don’t know yet how long this may last as in the summer, they were still promoting Wan and the plans for the film at San Diego Comic-Con.

Brad Pitt to Enter a Dark Void?

19 November 2009 1:03 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Video game adaptations have always been a tough sell, not least because games are an interactive experience whose narratives are often an afterthought, but mainly because so many of the attempts to adapt a video game have sucked beyond belief.

Directors such as Paul W.S. Anderson and Uwe Boll have looked to bastardise well known gaming franchises resulting in cinematic slop, yet as the games industry looks to make their wares more cinematic it seems Hollywood will keep on until a video game movie transcends its small screen origins.

So as we’re hearing from Variety Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B have teamed with media company Reliance Big Pictures to turn Capcom’s upcoming game Dark Void into a film, with eyes on a franchise.

According to Variety Dark Void centres on “a pilot who crash lands in the Bermuda Triangle following a routine mission and wakes up »

Rumor: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Film In the Works?

17 November 2009 6:37 PM, PST | FusedFilm | See recent FusedFilm news »

Just the other day as i was killing Opfor baddies and cussing out 10 year olds over multiplayer mode on the latest and greatest video game ever Call of Duty; Modern Warfare 2 I mentioned how a film for the Modern Warfare series would be a lot of fun. Surely enough a rumor has now been circulating that there will be especially with all voice talent the sequel has acquisitioned for the game.

The New York Post recently spoke to Kevin McKidd (Rome, Grey’s Anatomy, Journeyman) who voices one of the games’ main characters Captain “Soap” McTavish character and he revealed that a Call of Duty movie is picking up steam. Here’s an excerpt from the article.

“They were looking for a rough, Scottish actor in Hollywood they probably couldn’t get Gerard Butler, so they got the No. 2 Gerard Butler, me. I had no idea it would be so huge, »

Death Race 2 Is Happening

17 November 2009 8:25 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

A long casting notice discovered by SpoilerTV revealed the title, storyline, and characters of the prequel to Paul W.S. Anderson's Death Race. For anyone familiar with Anderson's remake of Roger Corman's 1975 cult classic Death Race 2000, and even for those unfamiliar, the story for Death Race: Frankenstein Lives shouldn't come as a huge surprise.

Newly arrived at Terminal Island, a prison for the most nonredeemable of convicts, Carl "Luke" Lucas must prove his mettle in a race to the death...

Much like the remake, "death" and "race" aren't arbitrary words in the title. The casting notice describes the two lead characters Lucas, replacing Jason Statham, and September Jones, filling in for the Warden character Joan Allen played in the remake.

[Carl "Luke" Lucas]

In his 20s-30, American, European, British, Australian, Latino, etc., handsome and confident, with a hint of danger, Lucas has been in trouble since the age of 12. Right-hand »

Paul Anderson Still Making 3 musketeers

17 November 2009 | HugAZombie | See recent HugAZombie news »

Yes, it's true: Paul W.S. Anderson is going swashbuckling. After he finishes Resident Evil: Afterlife, Anderson plans to make a 3-D version of The Three Musketeers. Why? Because only the director of Death Race and Avp can really do Alexandre Dumas justice.

Afterlife producer and frequent Anderson collaborator Jeremy Bolt gave up a few details about the project, which Bolt will also produce.

The movie will be set in the 18th century but will have a "contemporary feel." Based on the book (duh), the movie will contain lots of action and romance.

Constantin Films is financing a $80 million ollar budget which will start production next September with casting starting now.

Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and D’Artagnan: best of luck. May your horses race you out of the prison and into freedom, and may you defeat the evil hunters that can sometimes turn invisible.

Casting Call for Death Race Prequel Reveals Title, Return of Case

16 November 2009 8:50 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

The boys at SpoilerTV have gotten their hands on the casting call for Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Death Race” prequel, and on it is the full title for the direct-to-dvd sequel: “Death Race: Frankenstein Lives”. Tony Giglio is tasked with scripting the prequel, which will trace the origins of the Frankenstein character from the first movie. But what’s interesting? Apparently they’re also going to write the Case character back into the prequel. As you’ll recall, Case was Frankenstein’s original navigator in the original movie, and became Statham’s navigator after the original Frankenstein bites it in the film’s opening frame. Hot tamale model turned actress Natalie Martinez played Case in the original, and with the sequel already gearing up for production in 2010, I don’t see why she couldn’t return to play the role again. I could care less about discovering how Frankenstein got to be Frankenstein, »

Death Race Prequel Casting Lineup Gives Away The Plot

16 November 2009 7:32 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

We were reporting back in August that Paul W.S. Anderson, the mastermind behind 2008's schlocky Death Race, was planning a prequel for the film. Now Spoiler TV has gotten their hands on a casting call for the film, and oh yes, Death Race: Frankenstein Lives is totally on. Statham won't be part of it, but plenty of tricked-out cars crashing into each other should make up for that. Despite the title that suggests the mantle of Frankenstein passing on to someone else after the events of the first film, the lineup seems to indicate a prequel. One of the main female characters, a "model-turned-journalist," seems to be the early version of the Joan Allen character, a schemer who comes up with the Death Race "when ratings for her gladiator-style television show begin plummeting." Soon enough she targets Carl "Luke" Lucas as her potential star, a guy who is "handsome »

Death Race Prequel Character & Plot Details

16 November 2009 6:48 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

A little over three months ago we reported on the news that the mindlessly fun 2008 movie, Death Race, was going to be getting a sequel – or rather, as was reported at the time by Shock Till You Drop, a prequel that would lead up to the first Death Race and Jason Statham’s antics as top driver Jensen Ames.

And now, thanks to SpoilerTV we get some info on both what the plot and the characters will be , by way of casting call info. Nothing has changed in terms of it being a prequel, in fact this news is kind of a confirmation of that. It will indeed take place before the first film, this time being called Death Race: Frankenstein Lives (Frankenstein is the name of the top driver, Fyi, they’re not just trying to turn it into a horror movie for no reason…).

Excl: What Can We Expect from Death Race 2 ?

16 November 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

The death race continues at Universal who is prepping Death Race: Frankenstein Lives for the DVD market. Last week came the news, direct from Death Race producer Jeremy Bolt, that production will begin in 2010 and that casting has begun for the new Frankenstein (aka Carl Lucas in this prequel). It's "an origin film, in every sense," says writer Tony Giglio. "Not simply of the Death Race or Frankenstein, but of [characters] Lists and Case." In Paul Anderson's remake, Lists and Case were played by Frederick Koehler and Natalie Martinez (pictured), respectively. We hope she's back, too. "I also took painstaking efforts to make certain that this prequel organically sets up a lot of the stuff that was in the original. Frankenstein is a bad ass.... »

Death Race 2: Casting Now

16 November 2009 3:26 AM, PST | Screenrush | See recent Screenrush news »

Spoiler TV have got their hands on casting call details for the sequel to Paul W.S. Anderson's 2008 actioner Death Race which, lest you've forgot, starred Jason Statham as 'Frankenstein' - a prisoner on Terminal Island who is coerced to enter Death Race, a gladiator-like televised fight-to-the-death.

Anderson is set to producer the sequel, entitled Death Race: Franksenstein Lives and is searching for a handful of stars to take roles including Carl 'Luke' Lucas, an assertive, strong and charismatic convict, September Jones, a model turned 'insatiably ambitious and eye-poppingly gorgeous' journalist with the soul of an ice-pick, Elizabeth Jame Case, the sexy card girl for the fights and later a navigator in the driving stages who's teamed with Lucas...

A number of lesser roles require martial-arts skills so it looks like we can expect very much the same of the sequel as we had in the first, which was »

'Resident Evil' May See Fifth Film

15 November 2009 8:59 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

While "Resident Evil: Afterlife" has yet to wrap its production in Canada, there are already talks about the follow-up to the fourth installment of the thriller movie franchise. Recently, producer Jeremy Bolt told Ryan Rotten from Shock Till You Drop, "If it does well enough obviously we'll do another one."

Moreover, Bolt admitted that he actually hopes to make the fourth film as the beginning of a new trilogy. "Yes, we are hoping [we can get the new characters seen in 'Afterlife' back], that would be a dream to have another three [films]," he said.

Supposedly "Resident Evil" is made into several new films, Bolt wants Paul W.S. Anderson to direct it or the studio will have to find another helmer on his level, although "it's tough" to find one with his skills. He then added, "But I hope that we can make a few more and his [Anderson's] creative brilliance is essential to that."

Fan Rant: Please Don't Let Paul W.S. Anderson Direct 'Metal Gear Solid'

15 November 2009 6:03 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Dear Sony,

As I am sure you are aware, you own the film rights to any adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, the outstanding brainchild of video game auteur Hideo Kojima. I have no doubt that since the property became a gaming icon after Konami brought it to the Playstation in 1998 many have tried to get a film adaptation off the ground. I'm sure you've heard pitch after pitch, and maybe even solicited some of your own, so I appreciate that no ground has been made on turning the beloved series - arguably the most cinematic game of all time - toward the big screen.

Yet I fear that with a big budget adaptation of Prince of Persia on the horizon, you might start getting antsy about making a big budget video game movie of your own; and if that's the case, please do not take up Paul W.S. Anderson on »
