Resident Evil: Afterlife Set Photos, Tweets, and Casting News

6 November 2009 12:44 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Resident Evil: Afterlife is currently shooting in Toronto, and Milla Jovovich has begun using her Twitter account to update fans on their progress. She began by mentioning a scene with Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller "on a skiff approaching the huge ship" with the cast enduring freezing temperatures. Just a day later, a few photos from that set have surfaced online.

Missing from the photo is new cast member Sergio Peris-Mencheta, who ShockTillYouDrop reports was recently added to the cast in an unspecified role. If he's "lucky," he may end up in one of Jovovich's tweets.

so, Wentworth, Ali and i are doing this scene right now where chris r.[Miller] and clair r.[Larter] run into the V22 hangar, guns blazing, trying to shoot Wesker [Shawn Roberts], but to run in groups firing weapons is Very dangerous. and the last time we all did a scene when we were all firing together, i »

Jovovich Tweets on Resident Evil: Afterlife Set

5 November 2009 8:11 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Milla Jovovich has joined Twitter and is bombarding fans eagerly awaiting Resident Evil: Afterlife with updates from the set.  In three days she’s posted 73 Tweets about everything happening on Resident Evil 4 under the direction of her husband, Paul W.S. Anderson.

I personally have never seen a Resident Evil movie (and will likely keep it that way), but it’s worth following to hear about the cast battling hypothermia, the 3-D camera work, unloading guns during a fight scene, and hanging around between shots.  She makes comments about Wentworth Miller (”Prison Break”), who she calls “Wenty,” and compliments Ali Larter’s ass in costume.  The Twitter feed may end up being more interesting than the movie itself.

so, for anyone interested in the guns i use in this movie, here is the list: 2 smith&wesson 460 revolvers, 2 sawed off double barrel shotguns, 1Mpsk submachine gun, 2MP9 submachine guns and 1 M4 assault rifle. »

First Photos of 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' From the Set

5 November 2009 8:08 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

"Resident Evil: Afterlife" has kicked off its principal photography in Toronto, Canada in late September, and set photos have begun surfacing. Shock Till You Drop has recently made public two pictures taken from the sci-fi thriller set, exposing first look at Milla Jovovich as Alice and Ali Larter as Claire Redfield for the new movie.

The pics also share captures of Spencer Locke who is returning to the "Resident Evil" series as K-Mart, and the new addition to the cast, Wentworth Miller. Wentworth takes on the role of Claire's brother, Chris Redfield. From what the photos shown, it seems that the particular scene is taken on a boat. There is no explanation on what or who are the people in the white outfit.

Leading actress, Jovovich, had been providing updates on the filming of the movie via her Twitter account starting on Wednesday, November 4. One of her recent tweets read, »

Milla Jovovich Joins Twitter; Updates from Resident Evil: Afterlife Set

5 November 2009 12:52 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Earlier this week, Dr. Cole Abaius and I were having a discussion about a new brand of director -- the super-accessible kind who are now connecting with us, and their audience through the social media site Twitter. Whereas they were previously just the folks behind the camera and in the hot seat during junket weekend prior to their release, directors like Up in the Air's Jason Reitman (@JasonReitman), The Brothers Bloom director Rian Johnson (@rcjohnso) and even that Clerks guy Kevin Smith (@ThatKevinSmith) are now just a tweet away. It is interesting to see them so connected, so close to the folks who buy tickets that pay their salaries. Then, there are the on-set tweeters. The publicist for The Expendables has been tweeting like crazy about Sly Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and everyone else who's come to that set. And Overture Films has someone on set with Breck Eisner's The Crazies (@TheCraziesFilm), tweeting live from the »

Resident Evil: Afterlife Tweets Reveal Guns, Capcom Executives and Lots of Tripping

5 November 2009 11:19 AM, PST | HugAZombie | See recent HugAZombie news »

Another day on the Resident Evil: Afterlife set means more Tweets from Mlla Jovovich. Milla has really taken to Tweeting the spectacle around her, telling two longer stories and updating fans on her arsenal of weapons.

Looks like the Capcom execs came by to see what Jovovich's husband and Afterlife director and writer Paul W.S. Anderson was up to, probably hoping to show Anderson a copy of a video game so he might finally take some inspiration.

so before we started shooting Paul met with the creators of the game and they are too much! so sureal! he"s sitting in this very "umbrella" style boardroom and there"s like 6 japanese guys, very serious, all staring at him. kind of akward.lol!

so the japanese are all staring at him and he trys to make some conversation you know? and he says"so whats some future plans for umbrella?" thinking »

If motherhood has taught Milla Jovovich one thing, it is to be completely selfless when it comes to her daughter Ever Gabo, 2. “Before you have kids, you create so many problems that are centered in yourself,” she tells Parade. “You’re thinking, ‘Am I ready for this audition? Am I good enough?’”

Placing Ever at the top of her list of priorities has proven beneficial for the actress, who admits success in her career is now simply icing on the cake. “Even if I don’t get the job, I know I’m going to be really busy at home, »

The Sandbox: Five Rules for Making a Decent Video Game Adaptation

23 October 2009 11:08 AM, PDT | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

For the past 20 years or so, Hollywood has seemed intent on proving that video games aren't fit to be cinematic source material. How else to explain the dismal quality of the average game-to-film adaptation? But games and movies aren't inherently incompatible, provided that directors use some common sense when heading down that treacherous adaptation path. Here's my list of five guidelines that, if followed to the letter, should help future filmmakers succeed where so many before them have stumbled.

1. Costume changes are okay.

As with comics, video game heroes are often defined by their distinctive get-ups. And in certain instances -- like Lara Croft's snug spelunking short-shorts and T-shirt -- those outfits are capable of making a relatively easy transition to the silver screen. But the rest of the time, keeping a little too close to a game character's clothing makes it impossible to take the material seriously.

Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. Pandorum Review

10 October 2009 12:13 AM, PDT | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Pandorum is a mildly engaging sci-fi thriller, but in a genre loaded with more substantial psychological exploration and classic human versus alien conflict this disposable movie just winds up lost in space.

The title refers to a mental condition of interstellar cabin fever that drives cooped up crews to madness.  There’s plenty of craziness here, especially as the second half scrambles and nearly jettisons the promising premise.

The year is 2174, Earth is overpopulated, and humans have discovered a distant planet called Tanis capable of sustaining life.  The floating Elysium is a massive ark containing thousands of people and humanity’s only hope.  Corporal Bower (Ben Foster) and Lieutenant Payton (Dennis Quaid) awake on the ship from a familiar form of suspended animation they call hyper-sleep with no recollection of where they are or where they’re headed.

Going in search of the failing reactor and any potential answers, Bower braves the dimly-lit corridors, »

Resident Evil: Afterlife

9 October 2009 2:20 PM, PDT | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

It takes skill to make a franchise of movies that remains consistently good from the original movie to each subsequent movie. The Resident Evil franchise is one that I feel has managed to do this. However, this may be due to a personal bias that Resident Evil’s character ‘Alice’ is one of the best female characters in any film (no damsel in distress here!).

That being said, those who saw the third of the Resident Evil movies, Resident Evil: Extinction, and felt that it ended with the blatant a very blatant suggestion of a sequel to follow can now look forward to just that.

The fourth in the series, Resident Evil: Afterlife is slated to hit theaters in August of 2010, and brings back Paul W.S. Anderson (director of the first film in the franchise) to write, direct, and produce the film. Many of the actors from the previous films »
