Movie Trailer - Amy Adams and Emily Blunt in 'Sunshine Cleaning'

6 October 2008 10:06 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Just a couple months after she was anointed Hollywood's new sweetheart with Enchanted, Amy Adams popped up in the Sundance flick Sunshine Cleaning. Shortly after the fest, the film was acquired by Overture Films, which in its first year has released Traitor, The Visitor, and Righteous Kill.

Adams plays a maid who's looking for a better life. She and her younger sister (Emily Blunt) find out there's big money in crime scene cleaning and bio-hazard removal, they create their own company called Sunshine Cleaning.

Alan Arkin and Steve Zahn co-star, and don't they round out any cast nicely?

We're still waiting for an official release date for Sunshine Cleaning, but Overture says it's coming in 2009.

First Trailer For Sunshine Cleaning

6 October 2008 7:29 AM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

Sunshine Cleaning was one of the most talked-about releases of this year's Sundance, given that it starred cuter-than-cute Amy Adams and fellow star-on-the-rise Emily Blunt as sisters who specialize in a more than unusual cleaning service. It's taken a while for the movie to get set up with release, but now the first trailer is available online, first posted at Movie-List.com. The movie has "Sundance" written all over it, mostly given the presence of Alan Arkin, who seems to be going Little Miss Sunshine with a role as a cranky old man who bonds with a little kid. But Blunt and Adams are fun to watch, and seem to have the ability to make the movie more than just a standard feel-good indie comedy. The movie doesn't have a release date yet, but check out the trailer below and decide how interested you'll be when it gets one.

Worth Watching - Oct 3: Amy Adams' Sunshine Cleaning Trailer

3 October 2008 3:00 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

You might've thought that a movie starring Amy Adams and Emily Blunt as two sisters whose father is played by Alan Arkin would've been a great movie, but alas, it's not. Sunshine Cleaning is an indie drama-comedy about these sisters who start up a crime scene clean-up service. Even the concept sounds like it should be fun, but this movie falls short on so many levels. However, I'll still run this trailer because I know there are some people out there who will fall in love with this movie. As interesting as this may look, don't be fooled, it's not that great of a movie. But give it a chance if you like what you see. I gave this film a mediocre review in January. "There was way too much drama and not enough comedy... Although it eventually gets to some heartwarming dramatic scenes, Sunshine Cleaning suffers from so many

1st Sunshine trailer

3 October 2008 7:26 AM, PDT | From JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news

Even though it stars two of the best actresses of their generation - Amy Adams and Emily Blunt - the indie dramedy Sunshine Cleaning hasn't really gotten much attention. In it, Adams stars as a single mom struggling to support her special needs child who decides to team up with her wreck of a sister (Blunt) to start a crime scene cleaning business. As you might expect, things don't exactly go smoothly. The first trailer for the flick is out and it looks decent enough. Hopefully, we'll be...

MAKING WAVES: Tom Payne to play legendary footballer George Best!

19 September 2008 3:22 PM, PDT | From The Movie Fanatic | See recent The Movie Fanatic news

Named as one of the UK's Stars of Tomorrow (http://www.screendaily.com/ScreenDailyArticle.aspx?intStoryID=33541), the young and talented Tom Payne has nowhere to go but up! While his first movie role is a supporting one for Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970468/), Payne managed to shine. As Phil Goldman, Tom gave the role his own brand of sexiness and charm. He stars alongside Frances McDormand, Ciaran Hinds and Amy Adams in this Bharat Nalluri's period comedy. Payne relished the opportunity to show his versatility as an actor and his work impressed producer Stephen Garrett: Tom plays a rather dim young man and he brought great charm and charisma to a part that could have been dull, says Garrett. British audiences would probably remember Tom as Brett Aspinall in television drama series Waterloo Road. But he's about to play his most

Howard Shore: Doubt

16 September 2008 12:33 AM, PDT | From Moviescore Media | See recent Moviescore Media news

Lord of the Rings composer Howard Shore is doing the original score for the much anticipated drama Doubt, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. The film, which is set in 1964 and tells the story about a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him of abusing a black student, is directed by screenwriting veteran John Patrick Shanley, who won the 1988 Oscar for his Moonstruck script. Scott Rudin produces for release by Miramax on December 10. Lately, Howard Shore has been concentrating his work on the opera version of The Fly. He replaces Philip Glass as the composer on Doubt.

First Trailer for John Patrick Shanley's Doubt

14 September 2008 3:11 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

The first trailer for John Patrick Shanley's drama Doubt has debuted and can be seen below. I know I'm going to get a lot of shit for this, but I think it looks awful, just awful. I've heard a lot of people call this a big Oscar contender, but unfortunately even Philip Seymour Hoffman can't save it - I'm just not into it. You're more than welcome to watch this and say I'm entirely wrong and that it looks fantastic, but this is one movie that ain't my cup 'o tea. Doubt is based on a play of the same name that Anne Thompson of Variety calls "a strong dynamic provocative theater piece." But will it translate well to the screen? Starring in Doubt are Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams - take a look at the first trailer below. Stunning trailer for 'Doubt' hits

14 September 2008 8:16 AM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

I guess it's pretty safe to say that we'll see this one at the Academy Awards. Based on John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "Doubt" tells the poignant story of a nun who accuses a priest of abusing a young boy at a Catholic school. The film stars Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

As you can see in the trailer just above, "Doubt" promises plenty of spectacular performances, notably by Meryl Streep, who seems to put on quite a terrifying show. I really wouldn't want to run into her like this. Anyway, see for yourself. "Doubt" hits Dec. 12.

Witness Meryl Streep's Reign of Terror in 'Doubt' Trailer

13 September 2008 4:32 PM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

I am pretty sure I saw at least two, and possibly three, future Oscar nominees in the new trailer for John Patrick Shanley's Doubt, now available over here. If nothing else, you'd be a fool to bet against 1) Meryl Streep, 2) playing a righteous nun, 3) in an adaptation of a Pulitzer-Prize winning play. There are few sure things in Hollywood, but come on. I'd almost say the same for Philip Seymour Hoffman as a (possible) child molester, and I think the oddly unrecognizable Amy Adams has a sporting chance as well.

Streep's role here -- a stern nun who accuses a priest of sexually abusing a young boy -- looks like a variation on Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada, if The Devil Wears Prada had been serious business instead of silliness. "I was not inviting a guessing game, Sister Raymond." Her response to Hoffman's hateful "I can fight

Trailer - Meryl Streep Leaves No Doubt in 'Doubt'

13 September 2008 1:40 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

We've heard plenty of noise about The Dark Knight and its Oscar chances. But you know one category that's wide open? Best Actress. That is...until this possible front-runner.

I don't think I'm making a big leap to say that Meryl Streep has as good a chance as any actress this year of being nominated. As we know, there's not an actor alive or dead with as many nominations, but the asterisk is that Streep hasn't won an Oscar in over 25 years. But I just watched this trailer for the religious drama Doubt and I'm pretty convinced she's got this acting thing down.

Streep plays the stern Sister Aloysius, who believes one of the priests in her Catholic school (Philip Seymour Hoffman) has abused a black student. She also believes that this priest is dangerous because he represents change. And look out for Amy Adams, a far cry from Enchanted.

Isla Fisher Makes Some Confessions in 'Shopaholic' Trailer

10 September 2008 2:32 PM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

Filed under: Comedy, Romance, Disney, Trailers and Clips

The fairly adorable Isla Fisher may have already won some hearts in this past February's Definitely, Maybe, but now she's developed a taste for the Prada lifestyle in next February's Confessions of a Shopholic, the trailer for which we've embedded above (sorry that it's slightly squeezed).

I'm a little less sure what the name of producer Jerry Bruckheimer is doing on this next big chick-lit adaptation -- which looks like The Devil Wears Prada infused with Legally Blonde and some ungainly slapstick -- though the man did make some modest bucks off of Coyote Ugly back in the summer of '00. Though next winter seems slight in terms of fluffy rom-com-petition, this puppy will be facing off against the considerable star power of He's Just Not That Into You for Valentine's Day box office glory.

However, with any luck, this role could

Feature: An Appreciation of Anna Faris

21 August 2008 12:56 PM, PDT | From ifc.com | See recent IFC news

By R. Emmet Sweeney

Anna Faris may finally be getting her due. After years of fearless and sparkling work in lowbrow spoofs and indie doodles, she's starring in and executive producing a big Hollywood comedy, "The House Bunny." Whether it's worthy of her talents is yet to be seen, but it definitely heralds a new stage in her circuitous career, one in which she can start calling her own shots. If given the chance, she's capable of out-dumbing Judy Holliday and out-ditzing Carole Lombard, or at least give them a run for their heiress money.

With the Apatow boys dominating the comedy circuit, there's been little room for feisty female comediennes. Apatow's art is based on absurdist riffs on macho man-children, the women serving as sullen straight gals. There are some exceptions, of course (Kathryn Hahn's sex-starved wife in "Step Brothers," Molly Shannon's boozehound in "Talledega Nights"), but

On DVD Today: August 19, 2008

DVD Links: Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Dexter - The Complete Second Season I already reviewed this second season of Showtime's "Dexter" and offered up quite a bit of praise, but as I say in my review, if you are interested in getting started with this show about a Miami blood splatter specialist doubling as a serial killer I recommend you first check out the first season because this is a show you don't want to jump into in the middle. If you have a Netflix Roku player you can check it out in the Instant Play as I did. Quick, easy and simple. I am not sure if this is a show you will want to buy however. As much as I enjoyed my time watching it, the second season character Lila played by Jaime Murray really hurts any chance of watching it over and over again.

Amy as Amelia

The cool peeps over at "The Bad and Ugly Hollywood" have gotten a few shots from the set of Night At The Museum 2, which has apparently been re-subtitled Battle Of The Smithsonian (from the equally lame Escape From The Smithsonian), featuring Ben Stiller once again as night guard Larry Daley, a whole bunch of Huns, Pocahontas and our first look at the absolutely stunning Amy Adams as pioneer aviator Amelia Earhart. This time around Larry clearly goes to the Smithsonian and wakes up...
