Spider-Man 3 composer Christopher Young has now included The Informers in his filmography on his official web site. This is the film version of the Bret Easton Ellis' novel featuring seven different stories of various morally challenged characters - the tagline of the movie is "Greed is good. Sex is easy. Youth is forever." The pretty impressive cast includes Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder, Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke. Gregor Jordan (Ned Kelly) directs. The novel includes fantasy elements (one of the main characters is a vampire), something which reportedly has been omitted from the film version. Distribution will be handled by Senator International. Christopher Young is also doing the music for romantic dramas Traveling and When in Rome, and he also returns to the horror genre, scoring Drag Me to Hell, produced and directed by Sam Raimi.Brought to you by Upcoming Film Scores (http://upcomingfilmscores.

Bret Easton Ellis wrote the novels "Less than Zero," "The Rules of Attraction" and "American Psycho." As you know they were turned into films in 1987, 200 and 2002. Now, he has written a screenplay based on his novel "The Informers" which is set in 1980s Los Angeles and tells seven separate stories, follows a week in the lives of a group of morally challenged characters -- a movie executive, his wife, his mistress, a rock star, a vampire and a kidnapper. Oh but wait, apparently that last bit about the vampires has been removed according to an interview at IGN in which John Graham says: There are no more vampires. They took the vampires out. There are no zombies or monsters either... This is more about the narcissistic side of people's characters. God knows why they took the vampire characters out. I can't say if I was pleased or displeased, that is just the way it is.

Filming to begin in September on Gregor Jordan's new thriller "Unthinkable". Senator Entertainment and director Gregor Jordan bring to the screen a psychological thriller centered around a black-ops interrogator (Samuel L. Jackson) and an FBI agent who press a suspect terrorist into divulging the location of three nuclear weapons sets to detonate in the U.S. "Unthinkable" marks the second collaboration between Jordan and Senator's president Marco Weber, who will produce. The pair recently completed production on "The Informers", starring Kim Basinger, Billy Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder, and Mickey Rourke. That movie will be released later this year. Jackson will next be seen in theaters September 19th in Sony Screen Gems "Lakeview Terrace", November 14th for Dimensions "Soul Men" and in December for Lionsgate's Frank Miller adaptation of Will Eisner’s "The Spirit".

The latest film from Darren Aronofsky has just been announced at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival and what better way to celebrate than with new stills! There were a pair of images from the film released earlier, but those were both quiet shots taken from a relative distance. This new trio gets much more up close and personal, including close up images of Rourke in full on wrestling mode and Tomei ‘dancing’ for the ‘gentlemen’. Hit the link below to check them out!
A once hugely successful professional wrestler in the late 80’s, Randy “The Ram” Robinson now ekes out a living performing for diehard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centers around New Jersey. Estranged from his daughter, unable to sustain any real relationships, Randy lives for the thrill of the show, the adrenalin rush of combat and the adoration of his remaining fans.
But, when

The Toronto International Film Festival keeps bringing the pain with the announcement of 20 new films as part of it's special presentations lineup. I really wish I could hit the fest, but ahh well. The films which really interest me are John Crowley's (Boy A) Is There Anybody There? which is about " an unlikely friendship between a scruffy former magician and a little boy with a morbid streak. Ten year-old Edward has become increasingly obsessed with death and the afterlife since his parents turned their house into a retirement home. Edward's is a lonely and peculiar existence – until he meets Clarence who introduces him to wonders in the here-and-now." Hints of Harold and Maude? Next is Bruno Baretto's Last Stop 174 , about "young Sandro who lives in the slums of Rio de Janeiro where corruption and violence are the norm. Orphaned, alienated and fearing for his life, Sandro falls into a life

We just received a fresh batch of photos from the Darren Aronofsky film The Wrestler. We had already talked about the movie a little while back. But the film is set to premier at Venice Film Festival so these pics are some of the promotional material before the festival i guess. Mickey Rourke plays a fighter who said to retire by his doctors but he still feels he has a lot of fight in him left. Marisa Tomei plays a stripper in the movie and seems to be heating up the stage with her character. The other character is played by Evan Rachel Wood who is Mickey’s daughter. Not many people are really sure where Darren will take this story because genre is almost dead. Every great director has...

One of the five American flicks to compete for the Golden Lion at this year's Venice Film Festival is Darren Aronofsky's sports drama "The Wrestler," in which Mickey Rourke plays a pro wrestler who risks his life by challenging his big rival for one final match. Evan Rachel Wood and Marisa Tomei co-star.
The guys over at Bad Taste recently got a hold of some new pictures from the upcoming film, and you can see one of them just above. For the rest, click right here. Right now I'm waiting for a first trailer for the film, but from what I've seen in pics so far, Rourke seems to be the ideal guy to play this lead. Let's hope this flick will attract more attention than Aronofsky's "The Fountain."

A whole batch of new promo photos for Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler have just appeared, which makes me excited, but probably won't do much for anyone else. I'm very curious how this movie is going to be sold. I don't like wrestling in the least, but because Aronofsky directed it, I want to see it. But I think that wrestling factor is going to be a big one to get over. Even looking at these photos I imagine most people are going to be instantly turned off because it feels like a wrestling movie and I'm not sure that's what it is or that's what they want it to look like. The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke will premiere at the Venice Film Festival first before eventually showing at the Toronto Film Festival this September. Thanks to SlashFilm for first debuting these photos. They're a big supporter of the film

The cool peeps over at "Bad Taste" recently got ahold of some new pics of the Daren Aronofsky directed The Wrestler, courtesy of the Venice Film Festival where The Wrestler will be screening. Well this one looks fun. Of course, it is a Bret Easton Ellis adaptation, and nobody can put a smile on your face like that guy.
Actually, this trailer makes the world of The Informers look really screwed up, not that that's always a bad thing as a moviegoer. The tagline pretty much says it all: Greed is good. Sex is easy. Youth is forever. The movie explores the downside to the go-go 1980s, tackling infidelity, addiction, and other lighthearted subjects with a great cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, new It-Girl Amber Heard, and Mickey Rourke, and it also marks the final performance of Brad Renfro, which makes the whole dark affair a little more bleak.
Still, this could be incredible if Australian director Gregor Jordan handles the storylines carefully. His career is spotty, however. I liked Buffalo Soldiers but didn't care for his Ned Kelly remake.

Booze, Mickey Rourke, topless chicks, Kim Basinger getting it from behind, sunglasses, parties... No this isn't a weekend at Arrow's place, it's the new trailer for The Informers! Billy Bob Thornton, Basinger, Rourke, Winona Ryder, Brad Renfro (in his last film) and Amber Heard star for director Gregor Jordan. The new trailer is online and you can check it...

How do you say "star-struck" in Italian? George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Anne Hathaway and Charlize Theron are among the celebrities expected on the red carpet at this year's Venice Film Festival. The 65th annual festival opens August 27 with the out-of-competition premiere of Joel and Ethan Coen's Burn After Reading, starring Coen favorite Clooney and his pal Pitt. (The pair also appeared at last year's festival, with Clooney memorably debuting then-girlfriend Sarah Larson.) Next month's festival is expected to be Pitt's first major public event since the birth of his twins with Angelina Jolie. The newly single Hathaway – who appeared

Five U.S. films are among the 21 that will compete for the prestigious Golden Lion award at the 65th annual Venice Film Festival, the Biennale, scheduled to run from Aug. 27 to Sept. 6. At a news conference, festival organizers announced that among the films participating in the competition will be Darren Aronofsky's The Wrestler, starring Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood; Guillermo Arriaga's The Burning Plain, starring Kim Basinger and Charlize Theron; Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker, starring Ralph Fiennes; Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married, starring Anne Hathaway and Rosemarie DeWitt; and Amir Naderi's Vegas: Based on a True Story. (Little could be learned about the latter film, whose title is almost identical to Brett Ratner's Breaking Vegas: Based on a True Story, which was released earlier this year. A news story earlier this year said that Naderi was working on a film titled Digging in Vegas.) In addition, four films from Italy and four from Japan will participate in the competition. The Japanese films include Takeshi Kitano's Achilles and the Tortoise and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, from famed Japanese (hand) animator Hayao Miyazaki, about a fish who falls in love with a boy and uses magic to become human. Mamoru Oshii's The Sky Crawlers, another Japanese film entered in the competition, is also animated. The festival's opening film is the Coen brothers' Burn After Reading starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and John Malkovich.

“RoboCop” will return to the big screen in the near future, and according to the Hollywood Reporter, Darren Aronofsky is set to direct what is currently known as a new installment in the franchise.
No details about the plot have been announced yet, but “Road to Perdition” screenwriter David Self is on board to pen the script. MGM is aiming for a 2010 release.
The original “RoboCop” was directed by Paul Verhoeven and hit theaters in 1987. The story centered on a Detroit cop who is transformed into a powerful cyborg and programmed to battle crime in the city.
Aronofsky recently directed “The Fountain.” His is currently wrapping post-production on “The Wrestler,” which stars Mickey Rourke as professional wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson.
Although I feel the studios are currently remaking too many classics and rebooting too many old franchises, I have to admit I’m pretty excited about this. I’ve

Latest: Actor Mickey Rourke has slammed the police officer who arrested him for driving under the influence last year, insisting the cop is "unfit for duty".
The Angel Heart star was pulled over by Miami Beach, Florida police in November after they reportedly spotted him weaving all over the road on his Vespa scooter.
Rourke was initially booked for driving under the influence (Dui), but authorities later admitted the breathalyzer test - which the actor failed during his arrest - was incorrect.
A second machine used later showed Rourke was just under the legal limit, and the Dui charge is expected to be officially dropped by Miami Beach's District Attorney.
On Friday, Rourke pleaded guilty to another charge of reckless driving and was sentenced to six months' probation, community service and ordered to pay a fine.
But Rourke is still angry about the embarrassing way arresting officer Peter Socarras treated him at the time of the incident.
He rants, "I'm friends with most cops in the city and they told me the guy who got me isn't even liked by his colleagues. He's a 400-pound f**k unfit for duty.
"I said to him: 'F**k you, I'm not drunk.' I guess he didn't like that. They started on me at the station with the pencil in front of my eyes. Then they gave me the breath thing, like, seven times. And it always came out under the limit. I had two drinks hours before they stopped me."
However, Juan Sanchez, a spokesman for Miami Beach Police Department, has defended the cop's conduct, saying: "I'm sorry that's how he (Rourke) feels about an officer who's just doing his job."

Mickey Rourke has been sentenced to six months' probation after pleading guilty to charges of reckless driving in relation to his November 2007 arrest in Miami Beach, Florida.
The Angel Heart star was pulled over by police after they spotted him weaving all over the road on his Vespa scooter.
Rourke, 55, was sentenced for the reckless driving charge on Friday and ordered to undertake 50 hours of community service, in addition to paying a fine and legal costs totalling $1,178.75 (GBP589.38).
However, he was allowed to buy the hours to avoid having to complete the community work and paid $10 (GBP5) for each hour received.
His lawyer Michael Grieco says, "The only thing he has to do is take an online driving course."

Actor Brad Renfro, who became a child star at 14 in The Client but in recent years was plagued by numerous drug problems and arrests, was found dead at his Los Angeles home Tuesday morning; he was 25. While the Los Angeles County coroner confirmed to Access Hollywood that Renfro had died, a cause of death was not named. The Tennessee-born actor snagged an amazingly high-profile part for his first role, that of a young boy sought by the mafia in the 1994 adaptation of the John Grisham novel The Client, opposite established stars Susan Sarandon and Tommy Lee Jones. His impressive performance in the box office hit made him a high-profile young actor, and roles in such films as Tom and Huck, Sleepers and Telling Lies in America followed; he also appeared opposite Ian McKellen in Bryan Singer's controversial Apt Pupil, about a young student who blackmails his elderly neighbor, whom he believes is a Nazi war criminal. Despite a string of successful roles, including solid performances in Bully and Ghost World, Renfro reportedly found adapting to Hollywood difficult, and was arrested on a number of drug and theft charges. In 2000, he was arrested in Florida on grand theft charges for allegedly trying to steal a 45-foot yacht, and while on probation for the crime was jailed for underage drinking. Other arrests followed, and last year he was found in violation of his probation for failing to enroll in a drug treatment program. Most recently, Renfro had appeared in The Jacket as well as an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. He had just wrapped filming on The Informers opposite Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger.
