What’s Next For Nolan?

28 August 2008 12:09 AM, PDT | From The Entertainment Zone | See recent The Entertainment Zone news

Ok, I'm seeing all kinds of rumors floating around cyberspace these days regarding the future of the Batman franchise with Christopher Nolan at the helm. So, let's set a few things straight and I'd love to hear some of your opinions as well! With The Dark Knight closing in on $500 mill. Us gross, Christopher Nolan has most definitely proven himself! Even if there were some who just didn't like or didn't get "Memento", "The Prestige" or "Insomnia"... some of my favorite movies of all time, by the way! I Love a Mind F*&K Flick!!!!! But, I don't think many people can argue his talent with the success of The Dark Knight! Dark, gritty, bold, beautiful... you don't even want me to go into full 'review mode', because I could ramble on forever about how great this movie was! The question of the day...is... what will he do next?

Robert Downey Jr. to Play Ben Stiller's Evil 'Master Mind'

27 August 2008 5:43 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

You feel good for Robert Downey Jr. right about now. The talent was never in doubt, but his future sure was. And once he got back on track, Downey appeared in a lot of films that showcased his ability, if too a smaller audience than he deserved.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Zodiac, and A Scanner Darkly all feature great Downey creations, and collectively, those movies made less in their entire theatrical runs than Iron Man made on its opening day.

But then, the Summer of Downey arrived, and because of Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, he's getting the good roles in bigger movies. It's the Johnny Depp Principle.

Downey has already been cast as Sherlock Holmes in a very ambitious new treatment of the legendary detective by Guy Ritchie, and he has nodded in agreement to a live-action adaptation of the comic series Cowboys & Aliens. Iron Man 2, of course, is in the works,

'Batman 3' Development Hangs On Christopher Nolan

27 August 2008 1:00 AM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Recent words coming from the possible follow-up of "Batman" movie stated that everything about "Batman 3" depends on director Christopher Nolan. Hence, though Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures are keen to move on, they have to wait for Nolan's decision, especially since he has yet to sign in for this next Batman project.

In the recent Hollywood Reporter article discussing in details about "The Dark Knight", that fact is exposed through producer Chuck Roven's remarks. "There are a lot of us who emotionally would love to do it," Roven confessed. "But it's really Chris' call. Chris is the kind of filmmaker who just doesn't think about the next movie before he has completely finished the movie he is working on."

Furthermore, noting that Nolan is taking a vacation, he stated that everything concerning the third movie of the series that was begun with "Batman Begins" will be unraveled following Nolan's return.

If Catwoman Could Turn Back Time ... Cher, Really?

25 August 2008 1:31 PM, PDT | From syfyportal.com | See recent syfyportal news

Christopher Nolan has his choice of anyone to play Catwoman in the proposed third Batman film, including any number of gypsies, tramps and thieves. But instead, he has his sights set on one person: Cher. Of course, fans are trying to see if playing Catwoman is all she really wants to do. The Telegraph revealed as much even as other rumor-sharers have expressed belief that Angelina Jolie could be up for the role to potentially join who is reported to be Johnny Depp in the role of The Riddler. Guess it will come down to whomever has a heart of stone. But enough with the Cher references ... "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman," a studio executive reportedly told the British newspaper. "He wants to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years. The new Catwoman will be the absolute ...

Trump Defends Golf Course Construction

25 August 2008 9:04 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

Real-estate mogul Donald Trump has hit back at claims he is exploiting the names of his Hollywood pals to gain support for the construction of a $2 billion golf course in Scotland.

The business tycoon has been ordered by Scottish officials to wait until the end of the year to hear whether he will be able to press ahead to build the "world's greatest golf course" in Aberdeen - after its plans were met with strong opposition from environmental protesters.

Trump's plans for the luxury 18-hole golf course include a 450-room, five-star hotel, 900 vacation homes and 500 luxury homes costing up to $2 million (GBP1million) each.

In a forthcoming segment on U.S. TV, New York-based host Mickey Foote gripes: "They dream they're gonna be in the jacuzzi with Tiger Woods. They're gonna be bumping into Johnny Depp on Union Street. Sean Connery's gonna have an apartment here. All Donald's friends are gonna come and buy real estate here. That's bulls**t. He knows that. But the suckers in Aberdeen have gone for it, big time."

Trump snaps: "I've had many people over the years that have opposed me. And you know what? They end up being my best friend. Let's see what happens."

The findings of the inquiry will be reported to the Scottish government in the coming months, but an official decision is not expected until the end of the year.

Batman Rumor #34: Cher to Play Catwoman

25 August 2008 1:55 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

When you're the biggest movie in a decade like The Dark Knight is and you're tailor made for making a splash with your casting the way its eventual follow-up is, it's not surprising that we're hearing lots of theories on the next Batman movie, which for the sake of editorial consistency, we'll call The Dark Knight Returns until something else comes along.

We've heard The Riddler, Catwoman, and The Penguin, none of which I'm inclined to believe just yet, if only because they feel like played out characters. We've also heard a few supposed casting rumblings, but nothing quite like this: Cher as Catwoman?

The Telegraph cites a "studio executive" who says, "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years." The source adds, "The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations.

Aussie Actress Chosen As Burton's Alice

25 August 2008 12:19 AM, PDT | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

An unknown Australian actress has won the title role in Tim Burton's eagerly awaited adaptation of Alice In Wonderland.

Teenager Mia Wasikowska is set to hit the big time after being picked to play the heroine in moviemaker Burton's take on Lewis Carroll's classic.

The director is reportedly lining up long-time muse Johnny Depp to play the Mad Hatter in the film, which is slated for release in 2010.

And newcomer Wasikowska, 18, will be treading on the toes of Lindsay Lohan, after the Mean Girls star begged Burton not to choose an unknown for the role, insisting she was "ideal" to play the part.

Wasikowska says, "I'm so so excited. The book's really intrigued me when I was little and I've always loved the story. I really love (Burton films) Edward Scissorhands and Big Fish."

Earlier this year, Wasikowska was chosen as one of only two Australian actresses to receive a Heath Ledger scholarship - a fund to help young up-and-coming Aussie performers in memory of the late actor.

Cher Lining Up for 'Batman 3''s Catwoman

24 August 2008 10:15 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Angelina Jolie may get a competition for the Catwoman role in "Batman 3" as Cher is reported to be in negotiations for the part. Though the "Wanted (2008)" star has been linked to the feline villain for quite sometime now, latest report from British's Telegraph indicates that director Christopher Nolan prefers to give the part to the pop singer/actress instead.

According to the publication, the 62-year-old Cher has become Nolan's prime choice for the character whose alter ego is known as Selina Kyle. "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years," claimed a studio executive. "The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."

Though Cher started off her stardom through music business, she is also praised for her acting performances earning her an Academy Award for 1987 "Moonstruck". Her latest

Britney, Batman, Lethal Weapon 5, Mummy 4, Tarantino, Deppy Riddler and Shia's Fingers!!!!!!

21 August 2008 1:21 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

Can any of them be true?

It's the Rumor Mill Roundup featuring all the latest trash movie "news" that websites posted this week. The majority of which never come true and never will come true and were just flat out made up by rag sources to inspire online insanity. Last week it was how Johnny Depp was going to play The Riddler in the next Batman film with Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin. People jumped on that as if it was the last train out of town and the village was burning. The damn thing came from Bang Showbiz, but since The Boston Globe was regurgitating it they took it to be legit. This is the Internet folks, researching goes as far as it needs to just to get a clickable headline. Is Britney Spears going to star in a movie that Quentin Tarantino isn't going to even work on for probably two years?

What Do the Olympics, John McCain and Star Wars Have in Common?

21 August 2008 12:01 AM, PDT | From Rope Of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

David Frank knows more than you. Care to disagree? Oh finally. Just a few more days and the miserable Olympics will finish. No more puff pieces on the nightly news about child mutants able to flip their bodies inside out while snapping Newton's laws -- all in the hope to win a gold medal in honor of their family's dead mule back in Kansas. No more phony, I'm-sooo-aroused-by-the-Olympics chatter at the office. Oh did you watch so and so do something amazing last night and then cry when he got the gold? No, I didn't! Now would you hand me the damn Tps report?! Everything involving the Olympics (winter and summer) screams bullsh!t to me. Sappy, pretentious and boring; all brought to you this year by your friendly neighborhood police-state government -- remember dissidents, there's always a prison cell waiting for you in China. I don't care about the athletes.

Heath Ledger's 'Dr. Parnassus' Co-Stars Donate Film Earnings to His Daughter

19 August 2008 2:46 AM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Sympathy keeps flooding in for late actor Heath Ledger's family members, most specifically his young daughter Matilda Rose Ledger, even months after his tragic death in January. Actors Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell are those who show some support for the girl, giving her all the earnings they received from "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" because Heath had not updated his will at the time of his death to include her.

Depp, Law, and Farrell, all of whom play versions of Heath's character "Tony" in the Terry Gilliam's fantasy-drama, willingly donated their payments from the movie to little Matilda over concern of her future. Serving as the film's director, Gilliam confirms the donation, telling The Sun the three actors "didn't take money - it goes to Heath's daughter."

He went on claiming, "That's extraordinary! And wonderful ... and when you're part of that, you think, 'Ah, this

Olympic (Biopic) Fever: Who Would Play Phelps and Liukin?

17 August 2008 2:11 AM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

Their stories are already the stuff of Hollywood: Michael Phelps, the all-time Olympic medal-winning champion, and Nastia Liukin, the gold medalist daughter of a silver medalist. They're the new American heroes and before long, some movie studio executive will talk about turning their historic journeys into a two-hour inspirational film.

"It'll be just like Miracle, only in a swimming pool," will be the oft-heard pitch for the Phelps movie.

Across town, another hungry screenwriter will announce, "Did you see Stick It? Ok, maybe not the best example, but Nastia was in that movie!"

Maybe it's the cynic in me that sees Phelps' magnificent run and Liukin's sudden rise to fame as fodder for Hollywood movies, but you can't deny that they'd be pretty easy paydays, just as you can't deny how both athletes have captured the American attention this week. Besides, we know the beginning and end of each story,
