Latest: Actor John Cusack's alleged stalker has accepted a plea deal in court to stay out of prison.
Emily Leatherman initially dismissed the deal in court earlier this week, but pleaded no contest to a felony count of stalking on Friday.
She was placed on probation for five years and will undergo mandatory psychiatric counselling.
A Los Angeles judge also ordered her to stay away from Cusack, his home, and business for the next decade.
Leatherman was arrested outside Cusack's home in March. In 2006, Cusack was granted a temporary restraining order, stipulating Leatherman must stay at least 500 feet (150 metres) away from him, his home, his work, his car and offices or companies where he does business.
In a statement read in court by the absent Cusack's lawyer, the actor revealed he had never met his alleged stalker and now hoped she received the help she needs.

A woman accused of stalking actor John Cusack will stand trial after a last-minute plea deal fell through.
Diane Leatherman was arrested outside the High Fidelity star's California home in March and charged with one felony count of stalking.
The 33-year-old was set to accept a deal with a Los Angeles court which would have seen her avoid prison, but it collapsed after she accused her attorney, Brent Merritt, of using scare tactics to get her to agree to the deal.
Merritt, who was appointed against Leatherman's wishes, denied the allegation in court on Wednesday.
She will now stand trial at a future date. Leatherman faces three years in prison if convicted.

John Cusack and Steve Buscemi's new animated movie Igor is helping to combat the threat of malaria in Africa.
Charity bosses at Malaria.com got in touch with producers when they heard that the story of a hunchback who becomes a great inventor is set in a fictional land called Malaria.
Buscemi explains, "Now there's a tie-in with the film and malaria. For a very little donation you can purchase these nets that is the biggest prevention of malaria in Africa, where it is a huge problem.
"Out of one to three million people who die of malaria, 70 per cent are under five years old. I had no idea that it's a huge problem, so I'm glad if this movie can raise money."

Nick Norah’s Infinite Playlist causes deep-seated fear in my gut for the future of Michael Cera. Endearing throughout his span as George Michael in Arrested Development and then again as the rather unhip boyfriend in Juno, Cera has filled the awkward teenage niche like no other. If John Cusack was the brooding teen of the 80s and 90s, then Cera is the foot-in-his-mouth teen of the new millennium. Begging the question of what his life will look like when he can no longer fill the awkward teen shoes - Nick Norah’s Infinite Playlist is a look into that future. Nick (Michael Cera), of the fledgling, doomed for failure band The Jerk-off’s, recently found himself on the dumpage end of a relationship with unjustifiably popular girl Tris – but who hasn’t been there? It’s the beginning of the night they’ll remember forever and yet Nick appears

Los Angeles, CA) - First Look Studios proudly announces the DVD release of War, Inc., a raw look at the truth behind the corporatizing of war. In the midst of the political sparring surrounding the 2008 presidential election and the sea of disinformation created by the campaigns, War, Inc. provides a fresh perspective of recent current events. Co-written by John Cusack, Jeremy Pikser and Mark Leyner, and directed by Joshua Seftel, War, Inc. is a satire inspired by the influence of multinational corporations over the United States’ international affairs. Written and produced to take a poignant political stance, the film has enlisted the support of highly respected politicians, entertainers and tastemakers such as Rachel Maddow, Tim Robbins, Gore [...]

It’s a sad Sunday for the Weekend Movie News Wrap Up, with the passing of Hollywood Legend Paul Newman. However, the beauty with Hollywood is that great films and great actors will live on forever. Newman has left a great body of work as his legacy, but lets not forget that the man also was hugely charitable, giving millions away from the profits of his Newman’s Own brand. It’s a real shame.
In this week’s wrap up:
George Lucas finds a director to fly Red Tails; Will Smith flies again in Hancock 2; Sony buys Mark Millar’s War Heroes; Sherlock Holmes gets some love and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels sees Pink.
Box Office
Shia Labeouf consolidated his standing on the A-list with a gross of around $29 million for Eagle Eye. The film has the fifth highest September weekend opening in history. Richard Gere and Diane Lane will

Devoted Chicago Cubs fan John Cusack is refusing to miss his beloved baseball team in the play-offs - even if it means not showing up for work on the days they play.
The High Fidelity star is booked to make a new movie throughout October but he's told producers they'll have to work around the Cubs' schedule.
He says, "I told the producers, 'I'm going to the Cubs' play-off games so I can't be on the set those dates.'
"Either they'll reschedule or I'll be Awol (absent without leave)."

The players: Director: Anthony Leondis, Writers: David Koepp, John Kamps, Cast (Voices): John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jay Leno, Jennifer Coolidge
Facts of interest: This is an American-French coproduction.
The plot: Igor (Cusack), the servant of an evil scientist, dreams of creating a monster and win the annual Evil Science Fair.
Our quick thoughts: “Igor” is a film packed with great ideas that are sloppily executed. I know it may be a harsh thing to say, but Anthony Leondis’ big-screen debut falls victim to a disappointing script that clearly undermines an excellent voice cast and a decent animation.

Reviewed by Jenna Busch I have been singing “Tomorrow” from Annie for a few days now. Someone is going to murder me or I’m going to have to smack myself in the head and I blame it all on Igor. Starring John Cusack, Molly Shannon, Sean Hayes (Will and Grace), Eddie Izzard (The Riches) and Jennifer Coolidge (Best In Show), Igor tells the story of the land of Malaria. (That just seems like a bad choice when you’re naming your town.) Malaria used to be lovely and sunny until a cloud covered the land and killed all the crops. The king, (voiced by Jay Leno) convinced the residents that evil was the industry of choice. We’ve got evil scientists, weird experiments and, of course, Igors. We learn that if you’re born with a hump, you must become an Igor, even if you have dreams of grandeur.

Kids are fascinated with monsters and scary stuff, so why aren't there more good kid-friendly horror movies? With the exception of TV, I only found a handful, including such gems as Ernest Scared Stupid (1991), Hocus Pocus (1993) and The Haunted Mansion (2003). On the plus side, there's The Watcher in the Woods (1980), Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) and The Witches (1990). The problem is pretty obvious: these movies are either too scary or too stupid, and the middle ground is a very thin line. So if nothing else, writer Chris McKenna and director Anthony Leondis, both making their big-screen debut with Igor, have conjured an uneasy way to pull it off, even if the experience will be radically different for both parents and kids.
Igor is set in a perpetually cloudy kingdom where mad scientists compete in the annual "evil science fair." The winner's diabolical creation will be used to blackmail the rest

No animated horror spoof in which Eddie Izzard voices a bad guy named Dr. Schaden-
freude can be a total loss. Not even "Igor," pieced together from Tim Burton and various other sources with more desperation than inspiration.
True, Molly Shannon is dementedly charming as Eva, a massive, sweet, Frankenstein-like monster who, under the influence of James Lipton, just wants to perform "Tomorrow" from "Annie."
Eva was created by Igor (voice of John Cusack), a hunchback who

Featuring the voices of John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, and Eddie Izzard
Directed by Chris McKenna
Rated PG
For years, probably dating back at least as far as the first Toy Story, animated movies have reserved more than a few laughs for the adults forced to see them. Sometimes, the entertainment directed at parents in these cartoons is much better than anything aimed at the kids. Certainly, that’s been the case with three or the past four Pixar titles.
But very few mainstream animated movies are as gleefully adult-oriented as Igor. In the country of Malaria, the King declared many years earlier that the only way for its citizens to maintain a good quality of life was to transform Malaria into the home of evil inventions - be they monsters, machines, or potions - that would frighten the rest of the world into paying the King into not unleashing these horrors on mankind.

We host 3 new clips and, here's a link for the clip at Yahoo Movies as well for the Weinstein Co's "Igor" featuring the voice talents of John Cusack, Steve Buscemi, John Cleese, Jeremy Piven, Molly Shannon and Sean Hayes. Anthony Leondis makes his big screen directorial debut after a first shot at helming the video released "Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch." He also has a small part in the film as Killiseum Fan #4. Weinstein Co distributes and, while it's highly unlikely this will bring in a ton at the box office, the animation powered by a strong cast should be worth a visit.
